A fairy ring on a suburban lawn in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

A fairy ring, also known as fairy circle, elf circle, elf ring[SUP][1][/SUP] or pixie ring, is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms. The rings may grow to over 10 metres (33 ft) in diameter, and they become stable over time as the fungus grows and seeks food underground. They are found mainly in forested areas, but also appear in grasslands or rangelands. Fairy rings are detectable by sporocarps in rings or arcs, as well as by a necrotic zone (dead grass), or a ring of dark green grass. A fungus, mycelium, is likely to be present in the ring or arc underneath.

You going to believe an anonymous website, edited by anonymous users (probably on drugs...) Or us, those in the know? It's a conspiracy, dude. Seriously, it's the UFO exhaust. I've been to Roswell, I know the truth, man.

On the real though its probably just random occurrence. Mushrooms "roots" can stretch alot underneath the first layer of grass or dirt. I guess there a fungus in the north west i think that actually crosses a state its so big.

Either that or the squirrels eatin the shrooms start trippin and all stand in a circle like some sort of klan meeting and shit out the spores where there standing..... ya never know. haha

you're supposed to sit in the middle of it and a gnome will come out with a bowl of lucky charms

It's true. The Lucky Charms actually grow in the mycelium of the fungus. Gnomes tend to the dispersal of nutrients, once absorbed.

Saw it on Discovery.

(I'm baked. :bigjoint:)
