I read a few years ago that if you invest $250,000 and make permanent employment for 4 or 6 (can't remember which) American citizens you're entitled to a green card given certain conditions.

Criminal record depends generally on age of the conviction and specifically if and how much prison time was served.

I looked into it before, but sadly do not have $250,000 "handy" currently.
