Moving to Norcal

I am moving to Northern california in less than 3 weeks, my husband is Military, and I am a MS sufferer. We currently live in North Dakota. I have used medical marijuana before for my horrific pain and relapses. Living in North Dakota I dont have the option to smoke, thankfully we are moving. Now the question I have is how long do I have to wait to get my MMJ card. My other question is I know the doctors need my medical records and stuff to be able to give me my MMj card. But one problem with that the Military has them. How would I go about getting them without alerting the military that I am getting my MMJ card. (I am not too sure how they will feel about a military spouse doing this) Any answers, thoughts suggestions and questions welcome :leaf::leaf:

You need a driver's license first (or CA id). You can take presciption bottles in to the doctors, some doctors will use that to give you the recommendation. You get the recommendation the same day you see the doctor.

A lot of people don't get the "card" - it takes about 30 days for that. But you can still go to the dispensaries with your recommendation and CA license/id without the card.

There are some doctors in CA that don't even request medical records or presciptions

I used to be in the Marines, if you want your medical record, just ask. It's your medical record, they can't keep it from you. You aren't planning on base housing are you?

Oi I don't even have my california ID yet and already have my dr's rec. All I've needed to do was prove residency which I used my lease for that. Also have found dispensaries that allow me to purchase from them with just my dr's rec and my lease.

I'm going to switch of my license tomorrow though....already switched my car insurance.

I use an expired federal id and a current bill. Never had an issue.

Yes, welcome to California. Getting a Doctor's recommendation is really easy. Go to any head shop/tobacco store where you can get a paper like "The Metro", or any sub-culture publication (usually all about the local night life). Many bars have these in machines outside. The Metro has about 7-8 pages (some with 6-8/page) of ads for exactly this. Most of these "doctors" don't give a $hit anyway, they just want your money; but you will get the card immediately and be able to go to the dispensary and purchase your meds. Any form of accepted picture ID along with the doctor's recommendation is all you need. Don't waste time and money on the State issued card (by County) 'cause they are really expensive and take a good month to get after you make the appointment to get it, and pay the fee.
Good luck and stay safe...

You will probably have to go up to Chico or come down to Sacramento to get everything I have not lived in YC for a few years but weed maps only shows a delivery service there. Find the news and review magazine in YC it's called Chico N&R in Sacramento SN&R they should have a 420 section with ads for everything.
