Moving to Cali, but where?

I can't live where I'm at in Florida anymore! So BORING! I'm picking up everything and moving to California in the pursuit of happiness.

I need information about cities! I want a medical marijuana friendly city, chill area good scenery, near the beach, not so crowded, apartment, and plenty of employment opportunities.

I like to surf and longboard.

Help a brotha out, whats good in cali?!

LA and the Bay Area are nice. Good places to grow - in moderation.

Flawida is a terrible place to live - it is the dumbest state in the Union, surpassing even traditional dumb states like, but not limited to, Mississippi, West Virginia, Kansas, Alaska, South Carolina, New Jersey. There is also very little humidity and the weather is very moderate along the coast. But CA also has fiscal problems. Try Portland.

Santa Cruz is awesome. College type town. Plenty of surfers, plenty of weed. Beautiful. The entire Monterey bay is beautiful. Can get crowded in the summer time. Don't know your budget, might be kind of pricey to live.

Any opinions on Redding? I dont really want to live in city congestion I prefer semi-country living. Im trying to move in Feb2011. Im hoping that city can support me with a delivery collective. Ideas and opinions???

Redding gets fairly warm, I think Santa Cruz would be perfect for what you are looking for, Monterey isn't prop 215 friendly.

Im good with warm, I did research the weather (humidity, rainfall, temps etc) in fact its 90-95 degree summers are better than 105-115 summers I live in now. What Im looking for is a place with reasonable costs of living and a VERY Marijuana friendly culture, which Redding seems to be based on the local blogs I've been reading. My main concern is the market, having enough patients to support my costs of living with their donations to my collective that will offer delivery of my own grown buds as well as others.
I guess this is where my question really differs from Peble in that Im more asking for the city with the best market conditions. Im not locked in to a delivery collective I just don't want a "Brick and Mortar" dispensary... I just want to get rid of the plants I"ll produce.

Where I live (Humboldt County) there is almost NO restrictions as far as grows go. It's like 99 plants to a hundred sq feet of space or something ridiculous like that. Ppl don't follow those rules anyway tho... and there are weed shops everywhere. The selection is really crazy if you have a prescription (which is the easiest thing to get in the world). It's still pretty fucking boring and gay here unless you REALLY love to do drugs. That's like everyone's hobby- DRUGS. I was all for coming here and growing and being around others who love pot as much as me, but now I'm pretty much ready to get the fuck out of here and go back to the Sacto Valley.

oh yeah, and it's cold here 24/7. It's rainy and 50/60 ALL THE FUCKING TIME... but the ocean's pretty I guess...

I think you'd be good in Ocean Beach...but Santa Cruz is sweet. The Bay Area is expensive but awesome.

Central Coast is where its at, anywhere between ventura and santa cruz. Im in SantaBarbara and the place truly is one of a kind.

Humboldt County is not bad, shit load of growers there, but in the past 5 years DEA been cracking hard in Humboldt County.

Ain't no place like the Bay Area! Cost of living is a mothafucka though so it depends on your lifestyle. Only other place I would live in CA is San Diego, but I got love for the whole state.

I like you desired to leave Florida and move to Cali. My choice San Diego, needed something as close to South Florida as possible for me (Sunshine and ocean are major factors I could not live without)

8 Months later, I'm very happy with my decision
