Moving to an apartment

I have a 4x4 tent.. I'm currently in a house (Studio) Landlord is letting me duct through the dryer port... I installed a (Y) spliter and a 6" flap that opens when the fan is running and closes when its off. .. my question is this... Can I get away without having to cut a hole for ducting? seeing as its an apartment I don't think that will be possible as this complex is brand new... STEALTH IS KEY however I will have a Walk-In Closet... not sure the dimensions until I see it in person and take measurements.... I don't want to spend $1,200 on LED .... HPS ALL THE WAY!!!... So i either take a break or figure out a work around... Any advice is greatly appreciated..

Thanks ch33b (cheeb)

Similar situation here, and while it tends to be frowned upon in these forums, I went with the budget setup. Had a 250W HPS, but heat was way too much. Grabbed a budget 300W LED, runs very cool. Have 2 inline fans with a controller, can barely hear it with the door closed. If TV or anything else on, cant hear it.

I just went with 2 shorty strains I had, trained them to stay pretty horizontal. Realizing now I have enough space & light for 4 containers and some training.
Think my total budget stayed under 300, also electric bill change so far is about 20$ a month... All n all I am happy with my path. However I do plan on upgrading or adding another light, have the airflow and temps to accommodate so why not...

Hope this helps

If stealth is the key and you're gonna use hot running HPS, cooling down the area with intake fan and exhaust fan is gonna be heard by your neighbors.

I built something similar to the stealth window exhaust shown (scroll down to how to set up exhaust)

I also added a duct muffler and carbon filter to help quiet things down outside and kill the smell. I lived in a singlewide close to the neighbor in a trailer park at the time. You could barely hear the exhaust a few feet away from the window and the room just looks like a dark bedroom with the black painted board.

I used venition blinds slightly opened to vent rather than the wicker blinds in the linked article.

Maybe this will help with some creative planning. I vented my 4x4 for almost 2 years like this and no one knew I grew there.

Sorry I don't have pictures of my old setup for n my new phone.

Tip if you are running a 6in fan and its a little loud rap the fan in some carpet then the fan will be good. Just run the out let out the window with a good filter in the inside of your tent.

You can see the rigid foam insulation board I used to block the window some here.

It is 2 1" boards stacked and I just cut a hole for the 6" exhaust duct to sit flush in the board obscured by the window blinds.

I also painted the other side black. These styrophome boards are not lightproof without the black paint or something.

It had been re configured for a window air conditioner for a time also. That's why the lower section was cut in.

It's just a window blocking board now.
