moving plants indoors from outdoors...

I currently have 2 plants growing outside in round pots, measuring 10" in diameter and 8" deep... and each of the plants is about 14" tall and they are about a month old if that.

I need to move them inside now, so I set up a space in my closet, lined the walls with aluminum foil and bought a 48" fluorescent light fixture and 2x "OTT-LITE Natural Light Supplement" grow lights... looks like 40 watts. I plan to have it hanging at about 2" above the tops of the plants.

my questions are...
1. will this be enough lighting considering they were outside before?
2. will i encounter any problems with the move? is there anything i can do to prevent any problems from occuring?

any comments and suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

anyone have any advice? please? is there anything i can do to make the transition go as smoothly as possible? i just don't want them to go into shock and possibly die on me... any help would be appreciated...

yes i saw it, but that thread doesn't mention the lighting plan... my main concern is, are these two 40w OTT-LITE grow lights going to provide enough light...

i would say its not enough what kind of lights are these now?

they are 4ft fluorescent bulbs... the brand is called, "OTT-LITE - Natural Light Supplement", they sell them at Lowe's and Home Depot. the packaging claims, "It's like natural daylight for the plants"... it is a F40-T12

I would say if they were already outside you may need more light. I start mine under those before going out. As for the tin foil, be carfeul of hot spots with the foil.

ok, what type of light would you suggest i get? i am having a lot of trouble understanding the different types of lights and what is best... my closets measurements are: 58"W x 71"H x 23"D...

and what do mean when you say be careful of hotspots?

yea. if there able to stay outside thats going to be the best for them...

rule of thumb (for me anyways) never go from outside to inside.. always inside to outside.

lets just say that they have gotten big enough so that i cant tuck them in with the other plants and them go unnoticed... my neighbors can all see in my back yard, i just don't want them to spot them. not to mention my landlord stops by quite frequently, and unannounced to get something out of his garage and he just lets himself through the back yard... so its really a lot of unfortunate reasons...

I agree, you can bring in all kinds of problems such as bugs. And they were already in the sun which is the best.

I'm in the middle of the same thing - outside to inside. I didn't plant the seed until the end of June. My plant is now 28" tall and in the middle of flowering. I'm a first timer, but I think they need another month to grow and it's getting into the low 40" at night. I'm putting them in a closet under lights and don't know how much light to give or at what intervals. I've heard 12 on and 12 off, but to make them flower more, I should shorten the dark period. Is this true? Thanks for any help you can give.

Outdoors to indoors? The one time I made this error I had to call in a Napalm air strike to get rid of the spider mites. Never again. Maybe you can find a way to go from outdoors to outdoors (i.e. a different outdoor location).
