Moving house

So, situation: Moving house on the 10th of next month.

I got 4 plants 2.5 weeks into flowering (first picture) currently about 40cm tall each.

And 4 plants that started flowering just under a week ago. (Second picture. Ignore the two plants in the middle, i'm going to kill them. Different soil experiment.) About 60cm tall each.

All of them are autoflowering plants, any thoughts on if they're going to survive a 2 hour drive + 2 hours of packing them up/unpacking?

I would build a supporting apparatus to minimize shaking and put big trashbags over them along with gently tying their branches up, in a manner that wouldn't cause much stress.

This process would happen during their sleeping time.

Do i still have a chance for a decent harvest or do i just kill them on the day of the move, salvage what i can, and start over?

They're growing a LOT every day now and i'd estimate them to be quite tall and well into flowering on the day of the move.

Probably overthinking this, even now i'm thinking that logically this shouldn't be an issue unless the ride is extremely bumpy?

I'd feel much less worried if they were in veg but during flowering i'd expect them to be much more delicate.

Obviously there is the risk of getting caught but that i'm willing to take, countryside traffic (or lack there of) luckily.

Alright, thanks for reassuring me. Yeah i was thinking about securing the main stem like that too, especially the taller ones cuz they've grown a lot of height but not too much girth.

Probably because of the heat, sadly nothing can be done about it in this place. Hellhole house. +30c consistantly WITH air conditioning, fans etc. Won't be an issue in the next place luckily.

Anyway, no bags over them, secure the main stem, get the branches tied up gently, get the apparatus done so they won't fall over and i'm golden?

Moving plants should be just fine if you are careful with them. I have moved my whole garden several times. Once with about 30 plants in flower that took me 2-3 days to unpack and get set up in the freshly built grow room.

I used large Rubbermaid totes turned on their sides so that the plants could stand up in them. This worked awesome and the plants didn’t take any damage. Thankfully I grew smallerish plants so it wasn’t to challenging to manage them.

I’ve done the garbage bag method, you need to slide the pot down into a bag first and pull the bag up around the branches to help collect them together and not break them. Then I put another bag over the top to cover the canopy.

Thanks for the tips! Feeling much more secure about the process now. Happy to know i won't need to kill off my babies. <3 (Except for the two experimental ones, which i was expecting to do it to anyway.)

Rubbermaid containers will become SO handy. I've also moved entire houses in container totes, on an electric scooter. If your plants are too big, maybe get some cardboard to build a barrier during transport

On the plus side, lots of good tips were shared. Thanks to everyone again. Should i delete this thread since so it's not bloating the site or leave it? Quite new to the place and i'm not too familiar with the etiquette.

No offense meant or sensed, just having fun. BTW, cardboard boxes work great for moving plants, they don’t get too hot, have airflow, and can be sealed to avoid “prying eyes”.

You're good dude, didn't take it that way! <3 Yeah the boxes sound like a good idea, just in case someone chooses to grill bacon on the side of the road. Should be quite inconspicuous between all the other furniture. Well, until the doors are opened and the smell comes of course. Wish me luck. :p

Large enough boxes, some tape and little plant stakes to keep them stabilized in the box. Could add some string reinforcements inside the box using paperclips to hold the outside of the box then tether the string into the plant and pull from each corner or something. I've helped a friend do it this way with complete success with smaller plants. Bigger plants you might have to choose to harvest early.

I have grown Bubba's Gift and had it finish in 45 days of flower (6.5 weeks) so you never know, it might be in the harvest window by then? AutoFlowers are usually bred to be fast flowering plants.

Could be possible, for the smaller ones at least. Of course i'll follow the situation closely and harvest if they are ready.

Can't say for sure since i've not grown any of these strains before actually and i didn't order them, got them from a friend. Didn't think to ask for the website he ordered them from for the 'stats'.

Though from my experience, they don't really mean anything. (Attached is a picture of an autoflower special kush plant that ended up growing 5 months in veg, overtook the tent and i had to kill 4 plants so the one could fit in there. As for my current project: The older ones are 2x fat banana, 1x gorilla cookies and 1x super bud.

The taller ones are 3x gorilla cookies and 1x critical kush. In case that helps with anything. Probably won't.

Can you delay your move by 2 weeks? If not, the plants should be harvestable a few days before the move and you'll have to just take what you can get for this run, salvage the smaller plants.

Nah sadly it's going to happen exactly on the 10th day, since the rental plans have already been signed. So no delays.

I'm kind of set on at least attempting the move, if they suffer during the drive.. Worst case scenario i'll just butcher them at that location and make some butter, if they don't survive.
