Do mother plants eventually reach the maximum height allowed by their genetics? Or is their height capped at some length (18 inch?) until they are budded?
I don't want it to get tall. But I need to account for how tall its going to get. I don't plan to "let" it get tall if I can help it.
So, do mother plants eventually reach the maximum height allowed by their genetics? Or is their height capped at some length (18 inch?) until they are budded? Anybody with an old mother plant should be able to answer this. Did it stop growing in height after a certain point? Or does it just keep on growing?
it will keep growing until you cut it or until it gets between 3 and 6 feet depending on the strain. I keep my moms in a 2' tall cab, as long as you trim it will be short and keep producing clones. The longer you cut it the bushier it gets. Cut one clone and 2 take its place
lol thats pretty sick..if the strain is what keeps it at a certain height..then how do some of them grow to be tall as shit..i saw pictures of tall ass trees of mj.. like 40feet tall
no they wont thinkhigh . lol" how things can get a little out of hand my first mum if you like was an indica dom. strain all i needed was three clones to put in my flower room so i didn't realy care to much cutting back or topping . after ten weeks veg under a 250watt 6400k this is what i had. haha. lesson learned"
Thanks for the info guys. So is there a difference between topping a plant, and pruning the top? I've been told never to top a plant more than twice, and pruning it all the time to keep it short seems like it'd have the same effect...
The area where my mother must grow is only 22.5 inches in height. And 2 gallon pot is like 9 inches tall and only leaves about 13 inches in height for my mother, which sucks. Hopefully it'll do, I'll LST the shit out of her if need be lol. I do have a short indica strain on the way from attitude tho.
