i want to stqart with some regualr seeds but i want to create a mtoher plant. do i create this mother plant by going through the whole grow then revegging after harvest?or is it better to veg for like a month or so take cuttings blindly unless i can tell by pre-flwoers that its a female ? then grow out the cuttings as mothers? i want to grow kali mist and ak-47, this will be my first attempt with mothers and clones, i just want to get it right and keep it easy for myself to make it work

I would grow the seeds out, identify females and then choose my mother from there. It won't take long to notice the differences between the girls.

I preach cloning from clones. Here is why:

1. Space and money
A mother plant is going to take up incredible amount of space and you constantly feed it.

2. I dunno about constantly taking cuttings from a plant that is old and stressed from constantly being cut at.

If you are starting your very first crop, plant your seeds, veg em, grow and flower them all. Once you can make a positive sex ID, you need to do that. Trash your males, keep your females. Sit down and determine your healthiest most beautiful girl.

Here you can go 1 to 2 ways.

1. Stick the mother back into veg cycle, wait until fully reverted then take your cuts. You can then go about flowering as normal and letting her live her natural life cycle.

2. Cut clones from flowering mother, and then revert the clones back to veg. This, you need to watch and make sure your clones don't herm out on you.

Now you know you have a strong female plant with excellent quality (or the best quality out of the bunch) and you can constantly clone your clones as they grow and maintain the same DNA without giving up space.

Did that make sense?

sunny daze, i think i understand what you are saying. if i rveg the harvested female plant will it come back and be strong? when do i give it nutes again?on your second point you say to take clones from a flowering plant to create the mother isnt that wrong to do? is that what you do? what works best for you?

what is the right light schedule for a mother? 24/0 or 18/6? when you are revegging it, when doo u start hitting it with nutes? do u need to replant it in another container?

why stress the plants by reverting back to veg?
taking cuttings from a properly maintained mother for years is entirely possible. if your worried about stress this is far less stressful then changing a plants hormones to veg again by alternating the light cycle. it will work doing that but what is the reason when you can just clone from veg each plant and use that for a mother?
a seed mother will be a big mother. a clone mother will be much smaller to keep around. then flower the seed plants, determine which to keep and go from there cloning off your clone mother forever.
