Mother Plant Light & Cycle?

I have 6 mother plants that I plan on keeping in a seperate room. Because of spacing I had the mothers along w/ some smaller plants under a 1000W MH for 16 hours a day. Now that the moms are gonna be separate what light & cycle should they be under? I read that they're supposed to be under a HPS 24/7? My new room is gonna be used for a S.o.G. w/ 3 - 1000W HPS so I don't really want to run a 4th HPS if I don't have to. Is there another option? Thanx.

you can keep your mothers on a 18/6 cycle to reduce your costs this will prevent her from flowering and there are some great eco bulbs out there that will work great also saving you money. as for the right spectrum you want blue m/h or cool white cfls just make sure they got a good lumen output for the size space you are putting them in. its as simple as that.

Thanx for the quick reply bro. I use the cool white CFL's for my plants until their about 1.5' tall before putting them under the HPS and they grow pretty good under them. So you think it'd be ok to keep the moms under the cfl too? I really don't want to use a MH cuz of the cost since I'm already running 3 1000 watters. I plan on takin 2 batches of clones off the moms then flowering them.

yes mate they will be great under cfls if you have grown them to that size under them already why would it be a problem ?? and like i said to cut back on costs even more keep them on a 18/6 cycle. happy growing keep me posted dude.

ps you could take alot more than 2 batchs out of a mother plant if you wanted she will keep producing new growth all the time you keep her in veg just dont go too mad taking too many clones and killing her happy growing

Thanx again. I usually put the plants under the HPS after they get to 1.5' under the cfls. I ran out of room this time so I switched them all to the MH. I wasn't sure if that's why the mothers got so tall or if they'd normally get to 5' under a CFL. But from now on ill keep the moms under cfls for 18 hours. I will post pics of my new grow room tomm. This is my 2nd grow and 1st full grow indoors. I have a pretty good idea now what I'm doin but if u have any advice after I post the pics it'd be appreciated. Thanx again.

yeah all plants will flourish in there veg state under a mh its the best spectrum for the veg stage of the plant. but cool white cfls have the same spectrum so they will be fine under them. happy to help mate +rep if you think i helped thanks
