i just went out to find the dog in the coop with a chick in his mouth, he is trying to play and its not trying to kill them but im afraid the hubby is bringing home a run and even though i HATE to tie a dog up i have no choice if i want my chicks to play around the yard. I feel bad but being a cattle dog he is also very nippy so he has been nipping people around the kids latley he is too pertective. O well and i thought he would be the perfect farm dog?

Heard a story from an old farmer once. His dog kept killing his chickens so,
the next time the dog killed a chicken, he tied the dead chicken around the dogs neck and left it there until it fell off. The dog never went after another chicken.

had all kinds of animals as I grew up on a "farm" myself but be careful if you choose to get those geese they get mean no matter how tame you make them but the caution is for your kids not to get bit. let me tell you it hurts. p.s. if you do outdoor keep the geese away they might like a tasty snack :( from experience )

yea i love geese for that reason and i have always had them and they like to be aggresive but i have no fear of them just scoop em up and give em soem good love they hate that:) I once had a goode that lost its mate so when working in the garden he used to try to mount us poor goose:) they are very funny birds
