Most powerful 6"/150mm inline fan

If I knew for sure that one fan wouldn't hinder the other enough to make it heat up to the point where it could be dangerous, then I'd do it straight away, but neither of my fans ever made any noise like it did when I tried both. I just thought because it was making noise something was wrong, it was like a whine.

I might fire off an email to a manufacturer to see what they think.

I can understand that it will boost air pressure within the duct which in turn will get more air through. This fan works fine for 3 lights, adding 2 more in a straight run with cool-tubes is adding more friction so yes that could well be the problem, I just need to know for sure that extra fans on the same run isn't gonna be a fire hazard.
I have a feeling the noise you heard was the resonance frequency of the fans interacting.
I think the poster gave you sound advice.
It absolutely is a good remedy along with gentle bends in the ducting not elbows.
Lots of little improvements give significant results.

Never thought of frequency resonance. Very well could be. You also have to know that two things running together causes an exponential increase in db.

All this talk about fans, what the poster really probably needs is a decent AC unit.
I am SOOOOO fucking glad I have gotten rid of fans and ducting. What a big noisy PIA. Neccessary for some, but still a PIA..

The fans are for cooltubes so ac wouldn't really make any difference, my air temps are controlled with a pretty bad ass 8" fan that never runs faster than half. I need the new fan/fans to remove radiant heat so I can get my tubes closer to my plants. Well after asking around abit I've decided to take the advice and buy 2 brand new 150mm rvk L1s. One will go before all the tubes sucking winter air from outside and the other will be in the ceiling above the grow room pushing the cooltube air through the duct to my lung room. Thanks for all the advice guys.

I'm pretty sure 6 inch fans top out around 400-425 CFM your probably gonna havta run multiple fans. I cool two 600w hps with one fan, you might be able to push that to 3. But I can't see one fan cooling 5 lights.
My 6" fan is rated at 500cfm, haven't seen any that go higher. It's a Virtual Sun Hydroponics 6" inline fan. I got the set with the 6" carbon filter. http://www.virtualsunhydroponics.com/virtual-sun-6-inline-exhaust-duct-fan-ul-listed

Over 400-500cfm you'd need bigger or multiple fans to boost pressure.
