Most efficient pots

Hey guys, im strapped for money and don't want to buy more soil than I have to.
I normally transplant from a solo cup straight to five gallon and the total veg is normally 4 weeks and it works out fine through flower. But this time I wanna veg a little longer as ive got a much bigger tent now and wanna grow some bushes. I would veg based on the height of the plant but ive got head room and i top and lst alot so they won't get very tall anyways. So I planned on doing the exact same thing but a friend of mine is telling me to go with 7 gallons. But I think I'll be safe with 5 gal smart pots. Is 5 gallons cutting it too close? One of the plants I'm doing calls for 10-12 weeks flower. Everything else is average which I'm almost positive I'll be fine with 5's for.

Okay cool, I figured the same. 8 plants in 5 gallon smarts in a 6.5x6.5 tent vegged for six weeks should fill out pretty nicely am I right? Might scrog, get the same results just tying everything down though honestly, never had a problem with keeping an even canopy.

Use 5 gallon warrior pots, merlin34 runs them in a 50000 sq ft legal received grow and they are cheap. Massive drainage area I n the bottom and they dry out quickly which is great especially if you are going from solos to fives. Smart pots have am umbrella effect but should do if you already bot em.

Umbrella effect???????

Air pots are great the best on the market...perfect for cannabis as it provide better oxygen to the roots and bounces roots allover the pot hense creates big healthy roots that just drink i have 10 litre pots i have to feed every 2-3 days type in air pots on youtube nothing comes close seriously

Soil beds are the most efficient "pots"

Yes, please explain the umbrella effect.

I make my own air pots using landscaping fabric and baskets from the dollar store.

Picture an umbrella placed in a pot, with soil dumped on top of it, the soil below remains wet while the top and top sides dry out faster.
I'm going to do a side by side with roottrapper rootmaker fabric pots and warrior pots soon.

nice these cost £4 per pot from my local grow shop .. they fold up for storage comes with a bottom plate and a screw you twist in the side saves all the bs

Interesting. I've had GREAT luck with landscaping fabric. My pots don't behave like regular cloth pots but still breathe fine (no root swirling). It might be due to the weave. It's like a loosely woven plastic tarp. Water doesn't come out the sides when I flood the top.

Fabric pots work awesome!!! I had this plant in a 3 gallon pot, should of been root bound but wasn't. After I shook out all the coco, I ended up with this-

The girl in this pot was around 4' tall and 3' wide.

If you want to save some dough, check amazon for "root pouch"much cheaper than the overpriced smart pots

The best pot is a big pot. Get the largest size you can fit comfortably in your grow room and you'll be happy.

Smart pots AREN'T! Their JUNK!

Smart pots air prune and create a root ball massed in a block away from the walls of the pot... This creates the "umbrella effect" mentioned earlier!

You pour the water/feed in and it simply runs out the sides while not effectively getting the root ball wet! You either let the pot sit in the run off - not good, or keep pouring your run off back through - I have better things to do, or pour more through and waste expensive nutrients.....

I tested these damn things for a well know maker before they released them.....I told them what I thought of them. naturally, they did not use any of my feedback in their advertising.....Hunh, wonder why?

Plant Warrior pots are NICE! I went back to the normal everyday inexpensive plastic regulars...
Besides, use a Kelp extract and any pot is better (other then those cloth hats)
Get at least 1 - & gallon and run that beside a 5 and see what you get......
