Most basic question ...

I am planning to possibly build a closet for personal medicine and have the most basic question ... how many plants will I need to grow for my personal use? My goal is to produce the minimum amount necessary to get me from harvest to harvest. Any excess will be wasted. I have decided that if I do this, I will go with a DWC setup so I can go flood and drain if needed. I am thinking about using a LED/CFL combo. I can set it up for a vertical grow(have 10' useable vertical space).

spend the time and read different grow variations. conditions such as region, climate, money, money is a huuuuge factor and of course time and attention. if your learning get flouros and quality soil to start and branch from there. if you got tons of money go ahead with your current plan. us mofos workin for 200 a week minus all the benefits we were promised need to improvise and adapt.

to give you an idea, me and my gf, both smokers, and we have about 20-30 plants. 10 are clones, 10 are in veg, and only 3 or so at a time in flower. we still run out, all the time. what helps a lot is the ones in veg are topped over and over, giving us a lot a cola's, and using LST is great for yield.

grown properly 4 plants should yield you enough to make it from harvest to harvest. this is figuring each plant drops you 4 Oz.

it all depends on how you smoke and how much room you have, if you have the room pick up 4x 10 gal totes and go from solo cup to tote, this will get you some really big plants.

also order some feminized seeds so you dont have to play the game of luck with regular seeds. practice cloning so you can keep the best pheno and not have to buy more plants. if 4 ends up being too much then go 3 next round and you can work out the kinks as you go. if you clone you can get a nice 8 week veg time in and just have next crop ready to go into flower room when the finished crop is ready to be harvested.

Agreed with matt. That's the best way to have a perpetual harvest id imagine

Really depends how much you smoke. I smoke about, 2 grams a day. I'm thinking 4 plants vegged at 1 month, and the 1 or 2 clones I'll need to keep going to keep my flower space full should be enough for me.

With that said I know people who smoke 10x that much, and some people who smoke 1/10th that much (mostly the former).

it depends what types of lighting. cant tell you until you make a choice. but CFLs unless you have 100 of them arent going to do much.

Thanks all!!! I have no earthly idea how much I will smoke as I havent in over a quarter century. I just want off my current meds. As for the climate, it will be about 72F. I havent decided what strain I am going to grow, but am leaning towards Sour Diesel. I am going to build an airtight cabinet and plan on using the CFL's for nothing more than temp control(if needed) and 90w UFO combo for the veg/flowering stages. I will probably flood and drain to start, but like the concept of DWC and will switch techniques later. Stealth is my top priorty followed by versatility. Definately going with feminized seeds. make sure you keep your res temps low. and also your plants cool as well.
