All kidding aside, there are a lot of threads about increasing potency in the Advanced marijuana cultiation section like UVB lamps and such.


He did ask how to get more "crystals" on his plant and not increase the THC content of the "crystals" he now has.
 
It has been proven that increased levels of UVB rays will increase the size of trichome-heads/resin-heads but not that UVB will cause increased numbers of trichomes to then produce trichome-heads/resin-heads.

The protection is for the existing trichome-heads/resin-heads not the plant. The numbers of trichomes will not increase. Only the size of the existing trichome-heads/resin-heads will increase as they swell due to increased production of material to protect the trichome-head/resin-head from the increased amount of UVB rays.

The research that was actually proven was performed on several different types of plants but not on marijuana plants.

Yes, other types of plants have trichomes and trichome-heads and resin-heads, they just do not produce THC but for the rest of their functions they perform, act and react to the same things in the same way that marijuana plants do.
 
When doing it with marijuana, increasing UVB rays you have to look at how it is going to be done.

Some say just use more MH light spectrum during flower because it puts out more UVB rays.

Well most MH bulbs, and most HPS bulbs for that matter, are coated with a material that blocks UVB rays so for what miniscule amount of additional THC you might get by adding MH to flowering would not be worth the cost or effort.

To make things worse the MH rays while ever so slightly will increase THC levels it will be done at the cost of total yield so the tradeoff again is not worth it.
 
But if someone is intent on increasing the UVB ray amounts that strike their plants there are better ways to introduce UVB light into the grow room. A couple viable options are reptile lights, which emit about 10% UVB, and tanning lamps.
