More bud rot

hey guys,
so i have one girl here that keeps getting bud rot. its on the last week and its an outdoors grow. il be harvesting this weekend, at the end of the week. the thing is though i keep getting bud rot. i had a little bit, cut it off, looked the next day, there was some more in a different spot. cut that off, then the next day a bit more some where else. just keeps on coming back in different spots. the buds on this plant are really dense too, so i presume that isnt helping. the others are fine. i keep catching it at the start, so ive only lost id say about 2-3 grams the most.

what should i do, keep flushing and just cut the mold off and harvest at the weekend in 7 days.
or should i harvest now because of the risk of more bud rot. i have 2 other plants with this girl.
P.S this is my first succesful grow

thanks in advance for your wisdom, peace:joint:

Are you sure its bud rot and not something simple like Caterpillars? I have two 3' colas destroyed in the same manner last year. One tried biting my hand I swear to god, after I pulled it out of the cola. Look toward the stem if it looks like it could be those. ANY OAK TREES AROUND THE GROW. Not just over it but in a block radius?

Sorry about your f'd up plant issues. This is exactly why I grow in a sterile sealed room. Outdoors is nice and all, but all these issues!

I have always grown in doors, I agree, fewer issues. I think the only think to worry about indoors for myself is remembering to water.

i dont think its cattapillers because it has been a bit cold here latelt and its been really wet. i think that si what to blame for it. the one that has the rot is really dense too. so that dosent help. more mold has come up over the weekend in places. i think im just going to leave it and cut the mold of as it comes. ive only got one more week, it would be a bummer to cut it down now when im so close.

thanks for all your replys. il be doing indoors next time around.

peace

Yeah sounds a little more than a caterpillar infestion. I s your plant under a porch setting, the shade+moisture+other conditions could cause the rot, I never have had this since I have great growing periods where I am at in North cali

Maybe you aren't removing enough infected buds, when you trim? IDK the conditions are perfect for bud mold, and being that you have nice dense buds, that's even worse. Hmm....

^Yeah, if they are only about a week from finishing, I would too. The smoke will be really good at this point, and IMO, it's not worth losing a bunch more, by waiting that extra week. I'd chop, if it were me. :)

could i leave the parts that are not infected on the plant and let them parts carry on growing? and harvest the infected parts?
its only because there is still growth and some of the pistils on the popcorn nugs on the nodes are still all white. most of the hairs have receded back into the calxys or gone brownish colour. in the x100 scope i can hardly se any amber too. and thats what i wanted.

should the smoke still be good then yeah?

thanks man

Hmm....well, they're not quite "on their last week" as you stated. They're at least 2 weeks away, maybe a tad more. Lot's of white pistils, and few amber trichs, is a good sign that they need more time. If you want to test it, clip an nice bud and pop in i the microwave(for example) for like 10 seconds at a clip, til dry. It'll be a little harsh, but as long as it's nuked at small intervals, the potency will be mostly intact. It'll still have 85+% potency after nuking, so if you're happy with it, it'll be okay to chop. It'll be even better when dried properly, so keep that in mind, when testing it out. :)

hey about the mold, have you tried thieves soap? i use it for killing gnats and molds and getting roofing tar off, its got lotto essential oils and stuffs like that in it. t'was invented during the black plague days.

could i just cut the buds of that need to be harvested and leave the rest on there to grow? the top half looks done. its the bottom half that needs more time. could i cut it in half and let the bottow carry on? or will this stop it from flowering for a few days?

i have already cut a bud of because it was infected. i trimmed it up and took the mold of it. now its just drying. if the smoke is okay il cut it. i still have one more plant that is ready on sunday. then i have a sativa that has 3 more weeks to go, but im worried it wont make it bacuse its started to get cold here. i hope it does, what do you think? and yea they are outside. i think i already said

thanks man

Are you treating the infected areas with a fungicide after you cut out the crap? Your plant is infected and just cutting it out will probably not do the trick. Try using a product like Actionivate or Serrinade on the area that you cut it out from. treat the wound with it like Neosporian with humans...

hey dude, nah im not. the reason being i am supposed to be harvesting this weekend and really didnt want to spray anything on the buds when im this close to hrvest. so i tryed just cutting the infected parts off. but by the looks of it, it just keeps popping up in the same place and different areas.
so what im gonna do, is when i get in from work, look for more mold, if its come back im gonna chop the parts that have mold and harvest, then leave the rest to carry on flowering. im basically gonna top it and leave the bottom half. thats because the botttom half has no mold and needs a bit longer anyway.

what do you think of this idea?

Yep, you can harvest half, then leave the rest to fill out and finish. Many indoor guys do this, so that their popcorn buds fill out. My only other suggestion, is that you dry your smoke a little faster than some.(don't stretch it out for much more than 4-5 days) Also, keep ventilation up, rotate the drying buds often, and you should be okay.

next year when u plant outside, while in vege spray with BT its a bactieria spray every 2 week till it starts to flower, that the caterpilers lay thier eggs in the forming buds, they poop & thats w/gives bud rot, if you have mold go to a garden center or feed store & get sulfer pellets, you light them under your canopy i will kill the mold, good luck,, i grow outside as long as you keep them dry & good circulation it s/be good again good luck

wikid im glad you said that because i have just chopped and trimmed the top half. ive left the bottom half to carry on. it should carry on as normal after a few days healing itself from the stress ive put on it. i think it shoukd be okay now. how would i dry them faster? i dont want to put them in the microwave. they are just hanging upside down in my cupboard at the moment.

easy
