moonshiners thread

one of the reasons home brewing was criminalized was because of the potential to create your own fuel. it didn't sit well with the oil giants, so they went about their lie spreading and pulled a few strings in D.C.and voila. ethanol suddenly became a taboo and many people were convinced that ethanol was actually hard on a car's engine when in fact it was just the opposite.

if you can make a decent amount of ethanol and have a compatible car, you are going to save a LOT of money, and you are going to beat the enslavement that oil companies currently have implemented on almost the whole world.

and you can drink your fuel too! :)

Man...this sounds like a conspiracy theory. The outlaw of moonshine is linked to the tax placed on alcohol. This goes all the way back to the revolutionary war and the british tax on whiskey. It continues because the goverment cant tax it.

Watch some Discovery Channel while your smoking, why dont you.

been doin a little research and ive desided to make a pot still using a pressure cooker, any thoughts or suggestions. i love the idea of making my own booze and to stop spending all my money on cheap whiskey. i'm going to read up a little more before i go to buy the equipment but does anyone have a dank moonshine recipe that they'd care to share. thanks brothas and sistas

Making moonshine does not have to be complicated. If you just want some high proof alcohol to mix with pop or fruit juice just make a sugar wash and ferment it out. Very little wood alcohol is produced with sugar. Then you can build a very simple still with hardware store stuff and make shine for about 12 dollars a gallon. You can learn exactly how to it with DVD videos you can get at moonshine stills.

Oh, forgot. Here's a really simple moonshine recipe. Ten gallons of water, 20 lbs of white sugar, one large can of tomato paste and 2lbs of boiled mashed potatoes. Mix it all up and add brewer's yeast. Keep warm until it ferments out and then distill. Cheap, easy and delicious!

Aside from the satisfaction of doing it yourself... I've brewed mead a number of times, and would love to one day try distilling it - and make sort of a mead-brandy. Ever see that in a liquor store?

Round these parts you can get homemade apple pie moonshine, for like 35 bucks a 1/5. Think they also make it in strawberry, and other flavors but I dont know how its made, some way though. These are real backwood people making it.
