I haven't actually had it, but I have heard of it. How did you acquire the mold? Did you buy them that way, did they get mold while you used them? Can you be a lil more detailed? I have been curious about this as well, seeming how I use rockwool.

i dont use rockwool, but i have seen many many growers cover it to prevent that... a neat idea i have seen used a few times is cut a paper or Styrofoam plate to cover it... just trim the plate to what ever size it needs to be to cover the rockwool then put a hole in the center large enough to accommodate how big the stem WILL be and finally make a slice in the plate so you can slip it around the stem.

i thought that was a brilliant solution myself.

no light and the green growth dies.... simple and cheap.

sorry, wrong guy for that... i was thinking the green algae at the top of rock wool... my last grow area was totally climate controlled so i never got plagued with molds and this one is too much of a cluster fuck to let mold live ;)

serves me right for trying to help in an area i have no experience. my bad.

I am using rockwool in an ebb and flow style and it has the same green stuff i think might be algae, and then the white stuff you mentioned, lemme know if you find a good way around it
