mold in dirt resevoir bucket

I used some old castings in an old mix and they had some funky shit growing in it so all the plants planted in it had a fungus growingin their stems and they died.

So i cleaned out the bucket real good and started over with some new mix.

It's a bucket mixed with

Pro mix
castings
bone meal
blood meal
pearlite

I had it closed for maybe a week and a half and i opened it today and it has a really thin layer of mold on the top.

There was a lot of moisture on the top when i took it off.

Does mold just appear on wet things or does the spore have to get in?

Could this be the same mold that killed all my plants? I thought i cleaned the bucket well enough!

what do you guys think?

Wow, first post and last post- all in one.

Id say just throw those buckets away and start anew, or just empty them out and soak em good in some bleach, do these buckets you use have drainage holes on the bottom? if not then they are useless

then id be careful how much you are watering and keep an eye on the humidity, all i know is that mold likes damp dark places, so just watch the amount of water your using and you should be straight

Thanks for the reply. It's the bucket that i use to store the dirt mix.

I didn't add a single drop of water to the mix. But when i mised that stuff and put the lid on it, a weeklater i took the lid off and water was collected on the lid and mold was growing on the top.

I'm just goin nuts. It seems like in the past couple months everything i touch dies.

My bubble cloner cloner doesn't clone. My seedlings don't grow.
Nothing i touch these days works!!!!!!!!
