Hey I've just been seeing alot of stuff about people using molasses and I wanted to know if thats true. If so what does it improve? And how should I use it.

Any suggestions are welcome, Thanks- Dr.GreenNutz:weed::weed::weed:

Like BB420 said, except I don't know FOR SURE that mollasses DOES do those things, but I CAN tell u that it sure as hell doesn't hurt it! I use it throughout flowering WITH my regular flowering nutes, then when it's time to flush, I flush with mollasses. Use 1 Tbsp. to 1 gal. of water/nutes and ur good. Hard to overdo, but don't push it, lol

EVERYTHING depends on strain in some way shape or form. 5%, now i've never done the comparison myself, but was that extra 5% done with the nutes? During flowering, veg, or the whole time? Was it used for flushing as well? Sorry for all the ?'s but hell, I'd like to know for myself what others have found as well. Personally, I've only used the hps for 1 grow, and previously only used cfl's(wow what a difference). At the same time I got the hps, I got the mollasses as well thanks to some advice from a friend on this site:mrgreen: since then, its been nothing but mollasses for me throughout flowering(with the flowering nutes of corse) and during flushing as well. i can say that my mollasses harvested buds DID have a sweet sugary taste to them, not unlike that of mollasses, and also they did have a sweet, skunky aroma too.

I use it sometimes then other times i dont, ive also done side by side comparisons using mollasses vs non mollasses buds,i give out samples of each different buds to family each grow so it adds to the fun for me.

I never told anybody that one bud was fed molasses only that i wanted feedback if one bud tasted different or better in any way,not one person gave me any fdeedback saying that one bud tasted sweeter, smoked better or gave a better high, both buds were equally enjoyed & not one family member said one was better or tastier than the other.

In one particular grow where i used molasses i was fukin around & looking at differen buds under a black light, under the black light its easy as hell to see which bud has been fed molasses,it has a way different color to it over non treated plants.

Im sure the plants absorb the molasses because ive seen it under the light but im not convinced it produces larger buds or better tasting buds,i look at it this way,it cant hurt because the buds do absorb the molasses.

It is also a good way to naturally lower the ph level in your water if you run out of ph down.

Damn panhead, can jus see u now, up close and personal with a nug under ur blacklight lol.... So what was the difference between the buds unde3r the light, like colorwise? Like i said, I can't really say it made my nugs bigger and all that, but hell, they sure were flavorful! And also, I havent hear of it as a ph down before either, but could be useful down the road

It was an accident that i saw the buds under a black light,we have a expensive hifi system where finger prints show up very easily & look like shit so i veiw the gear under a black light when cleaning it,the light shows up any missed finger prints,it was then i saw a bud under that light,it looked funky so i compared them, the molasses buds take on a dark hue much like what the water looks like after you mix in the molasses,a light blackish color, regular buds do not take on this color thats how i became sure they did absorb the molasses.

I also found out about using small amounts of molasses for ph correction by accident,i'd grown accustomed to needing to lower the ph in my water drastically when i added fertilizer,my plain water only needs tiny adjustments but the fertilzer water needed huge adjustments, after adding molasses the fertilizer water only needed small adjustments,i also found out that it might in some way act as a ph stabilizer,if i ph my nutrient water a few days in advance the ph level will raise by the time i use it days later, the nutrient water treated with molasses does not rise as much as non treated water.

Very nice panhead. So ur ferts are way alkaline? Shit mine are so fucking acidic it's not even funny. I got a whole bottle of ph down left, and i'm already about half way through the ph up. Anyways, good info u put up there, hopefully anyone wondering about mollasses comes accross this thread, good work!

apparently the benefits of using molasses can only work in an organic medium.

The plants need microorganisms to break down the molasses so that the roots can absorb the good stuff. Otherwise, you're just adding minerals to the soil.

I hope that this isn't true, as I really wanted to you use molasses for my first grow. But after reading into it on this site, it seems that it only works in organic :-|

So it would probably work in fox farm soil?
Yes it will but let me ask you this, why Fox Farm soil ? whats the need for a product that expensive ?

If your only growing one or two plants its a good choice based on being a killer soil right out of the package but in larger grows its not a good choice of products, the high cost makes it cost prohibitive.

Do a search on here about soil mix'es that members use,i use my own special mix that works just as well at 1/10th the cost, ive also seen other members like "Vireed" for instance who've posted directions for making kick ass pro mix type soil at home.

Your flowering nutes are acidic ?

I just swithed to the fox farm stuff this time around, so i don't about them yet. But ya, the stuff i was usin before, Alaska Morebloom, was rediculous, dropped the ph of a gal of distilled water to 5 or even more!

Im thinking about half foxfarm soil and half coco fiber. Plus a bit of perlite. What do you think? And if you know anything about re-vegging, please check out my thread about it.
