I've read a lot about people using molasses on their plants. JW, what does it do for the plant and when's the best time to use it?

Best time to use it is during flowering. It's suppose to fatten up the buds and produces more crystals on them. Adding the extra sugar will boost your plant. They will love you for it. It's next to the pancake syrup at your local grocery store, that's if you're in the usa.

Understanding Molasses

Do you know the difference between types of molasses? We often hear the term "blackstrap molasses," but what does that mean?

The quality of molasses depends on the maturity of the sugar cane, the amount of sugar extracted, and the method of extraction. There are three major types of molasses: unsulphured, sulphured and blackstrap.

Unsulphured molasses is the finest quality. It is made from the juice of sun-ripened cane and the juice is clarified and concentrated.

Sulphured molasses is made from green sugar cane that has not matured long enough and treated with sulphur fumes during the sugar extracting process. Molasses from the first boiling is the finest grade because only a small amount of sugar has been removed. The second boil molasses takes on a darker color, is less sweet and has a more pronounced flavor.

Blackstrap molasses is from the third boil and only has a commercial value in the manufacture of cattle feed and other industrial uses.

no problem. :) yes start with 1 tablespoon of molasses per 1 gallon of h2o...as your plants flower more i'd move it up 2 tablespoons per gallon. 2 tablespoons is what i've been using. I use it everytime i water/feed/flush...use it with everything. hope this helps. :peace:

i use it everytime my plant is dry and needs a drink/feed/flush. so if my plants needs fed/water 2-3 times a week i'll use molasses 2-3 times a week. Ok put it this way whenever you add anything..nutes...water...use molasses with it every single time. i'm flushing my baby with just water and molasses right now. gonna chop her in 2 days.

So you can use molasses up until you cut it? How long before you cut down do you stop the nutes?

Molasses has a lot of potassium in it, it is also a carbohydrate.
It is a good supliment to give the plant while your flushing the chems out.
All around goodness.:leaf:

Is there any way it can hurt it? How much and how often do use molasses per gallon/weekly>?

So you stop nutes two weeks before harvest and continue w/ the molasses until you cut it down?

You won't hurt anything, yes stop the nutes for at least a week if your using a flushing agent like flora kleen or clearex. But if you're just using plain water, I'd use the molasses too cause the salt molecules need something to bond to when you flush.
