They are both fine from what I can gather if you just want to use it as a carb load. Blackstrap has been cooked down and contains less sugar but more micro nutrients. In fact, it's very high in them. It sounds like a lot of people give nothing but water and molasses the last week or two before harvest. If that's what I were doing I would probably use blackstrap just because it has so many nutrients that can help finish out the plant. But I'm sure regular unsulphured gets the job done also.

That is exactly what I'm doing now. My friends at the local grow shop use them throughout growing. I'll just use Molasses and H2O the last 2 weeks before harvest. GL HH

I used it from week 2 of flower through week 7. The last week nothing but h20.

can't compare the results though as I also started using hydro nutes on my last soil grow. I ended up with around 50% more weight from slightly smaller plants than my first. That comparison is no good as well, as I also topped and FIMed and ended up with many more big buds. Hell, the differences between my first and second grow were night and day. I made so many mistakes on my first I'm surprised they did as well as they did.

Here's something important to keep in mind in case you didn't already know. Mix your molasses with a cup or two of very hot water to dissolve it better. Then mix with the rest of the water that you plan on using. I use 2 tablespoons per gallon of water, but I suspect you could probably use more. Also, don't let your molasses and water sit out for 24 hours unless you plan on feeding your plants an unhealthy dose of bacteria.

You don't have to only use molasses in a soil grow. I grow in passive hydro...and the molasses is great. I don't recommend you put it in a rez that is going to not be changed for a week or so...as it can gunk things up. I like to hand water molasses.

Molasses is also good to use in organic teas to help cover the smell of some of the composts that get used, and anytime you use a fish based nute...the molasses will help take away that fishy smell.

Drink!
