Moderators are there to make sure the forum is not full of junk and to put an end to argument's but why can moderators abuse there powers as moderators and no have no consequences

im a moderator on another forum and if i handed out infractions/warning as some of the moderators do on here i would be degraded to a normal member again

how can this be justified and what are the punishments for moderators?

this is not a personal attack on all or any moderators im just asking why they can get away with stuff that others cant?
