I ended up getting 2 of those 'Mr Beer' home brewing kits for christmas. Pretty funny that my gf and my father both bought me the same thing.

Anyone ever use one? I made beer once about 5 years ago with an 'Ale Pail' bucket kit and it was a pain in the ass, was pretty tasty though...

Cool I got one too.

Wish it came with something better then "american light beer".

lol.

Yeah the kit my girl got me has the knock off coors light too. The 'premium' kit my dad got me has sam adams and corona. There is literally 200+ ingredient kits though.

I haven't used one of those kits but just started getting into brewing. As for you saying its a pain what????? easist shit ive done so far... sit by the kettle for an hour or two, make two or three transfers, sanitize the various containers and wait.

I probably should have mentioned I was making blackberry honey mead... Boiling honey and fruit was a real pain lol.

I got one from my brother in law a few years ago..had a west coast pale ale in it..pretty tasty, but I have a hard time waiting for something I can get right now..lol

I have never maid beer but I have made naturaly carbonated 'root beer' from one of those kits

The kits are a fair place to start but way over priced for what they are , My advice is just to use the kit you have and if you enjoy it and like the end product read into home brewing and buy your own equpment

Northern Brewer is a good catalog/shop and will even send you a free catalog

Also local brew shops can be awesome sources of info. , The guys that engauge in brewing/wine makeing/distilling usually love their hobby and will talk about it non stop

Many craft breweres will also give you a tour

Its not too bad, 2 weeks to ferment and 1-2 weeks in the fridge to condition it.

TBH I drink maybe a beer or 2 a month, so I doubt Ill ever serious about brewing. Although it is fun! I would never have paid for one of these kits, but having gotten 2 as gifts cant go wrong :p

I dont drink at all

But for me brewing, distilling, fermentation, is a very intersting hobby . I think it's just a self-suffency thing

I also love making my own sour-dough bread from home caputured yeast , and lacto-fermenting Kraught's

I just got a kit for a belgian triple that's actually from belgium, i'm stoked. gotta find a good stable place to set up tho
