MMAR home insurance

Got a little room going as a DG under MMAR, in a residential rental. Landlord is aware but recently decided I need to find insurance coverage for the home (fair enough). I've come across Scott Wilkins on the island, but based on some threads i've read and the fact that he hasn't responded to my voicemail i've left him he doesn't strike me as a reliable guy. Now I've heard that some regular insurance companies cover legal MMAR ops.

Anyone got any experience or suggestions for insurance companies in BC/Canada? Greatly appreciated :peace:

I said hydroponics all though i grow in dirt, If i were to grow roses or marijuana there would be no difference in the environment used or the dangers involved. They could potentially say well your house might get broken into blah blah at that point ther judging you and making there decision upon that. Always Always Always remember this, aslong as you have your MMAR VALID forms.

You are a federal licensed exemptee by the government of CANADA, in all honesty your landlord cant do a single thing, if they try and cause you hassel that becomes a human rights issue and you can then request a tribunal, when you win, you will no longer be renting, odds are you would hurt the landlord so bad he might aswell give you the property.

Police, landlords, judges, government agencies wether it be BC, Manitoba or Ontario. You trump all with your FEDERAL exemption, they do not make/adjust/discuss/negotiate laws, they can only enforce it. You remember this til march/2014 when program is over and u will not have any problems.

Yeah I'm aware that I can continue doing my thing but I prefer to get along with him as he has been a long term landlord and good to me over the years. I would like to accommodate his request to the best of my ability.

Not completely right bigmac. The landlord act gives the landlord the right to inspect their property and weather your growing roses or buds if you are not in compliance he has the right to protect his investment. This is a subject that has many angles but if the property is shown to be abused...you the tennant will be left with a hefty bill in repairs.

Bin there done that!

Your best bet is to call around and without names or addresses ask the question and find out what they need to insure the property. With the legal paperwork it should be just a matter of what hoops they will require.

Good Luck

If your causing damage to the property, yes ofcourse they can take you to the board and request you get evicted. But as far as growing in a rental goes, you do not need permission and aslong as your doing everything nice clean and tiddy, they cannot evict you.

My State Farm Homeowners insurance says that I'm covered as long as it's a legal grow.
