Mixing my own coco question

I bought some coco brick and I was wondering if I should add calmag and pH the water while I'm soaking it? I will use a fabric pot and a bucket to soak the coco in. Water from my tap is between 6.8 - 7.1. Also, do you routinely flush more with coco than you would soil during your grows? I am not an expert hydro grower but I make it to the finish lines(albeit not always sunny skies and smooth sailing), with that being said, I appreciate any and all advice about coco. Thank you.

If your coco is already buffered (most are) then you don't have to do any soaking or pre-charging.
I like to use a 70/30 coco/perlite mix.
Start in solo cups.
Feed daily to run off using a pH of around 6.0.......starting around day 3 from sprout.
Never give plain water.
Never let the coco dry out.
Flushing is not necessary unless you overfeed........daily light feeding to run off prevents salt build up.
I use tap water so I don't need a calmag supplement.

The best place to learn coco growing.............www.cocoforcannabis.com.
Good luck and welcome to GC.

I just re-read your post and didn't notice you are using a coco brick.
When I used them (never again) I hydrated them in a very weak nute solution with a pH of 6.0.
I put it in a 5 gallon bucket and mix it up by hand.
Then I scoop out what floats to use for my grow.
The powder will sink to the bottom to be thrown out.

Thank you for the link and info! Is there a reason why you don't want to use brick again? My first time with it so I'm pretty ignorant on the matter. Thanks again!
