Mixing in 1000's with 600's watters

Im going for 9 lights, at the moment im looking at using all 600's, set out like this:

600-600-600
600-600-600
600-600-600

After reading up on here, seems alot favour 1000 watt lights. So basically thought id mix it like this: (do use get my little diagram?) lol

600-1000-600
600-1000-600
600-1000-600

But im thinking because the shades which are mini grostars are all fixed to a wooden 3x2 beam on pulleys, they will all be on the same level (cant have any higher or lower than the rest), so im thinking the 1000watt lights will be on the same level as my 600's so would this burn the plants because obviously the 600's can be closer to the plants. But if i lift them up to compensate for the heat from the 1000's il be lowering the effectiveness of the 600watt lights

What use all think

if use dont get my little thing, i have 9 lights in 3 rows with 3 lights in each row, thinking of putting the 1000's in the middle of the row with a 600 either side bongsmilie

What is the advantage of using any 600w in a grow this size?

never really considered going for all 1000's. Its a 3m x 3m space by the way, so its a light over every 1m2, always thought 600watts was perfect for that, isnt a 1000 over 1m2 abit overkill, will changing to all 1000's make a big difference in yield, i think i would have to adjust my heating aswell to cope with all the 1000's.

slightly higher for the 1k's say 6-8" depending on how you are planning on cooling them.
good reflectors are made to have the ability to be very close to the plants without burning them as long as they are air cooled.
you may be able to better cover your area using less wattage via one light mover for the 2 1k's if setup like this:
600- -600
600-1000-600
600-1000-600 the 1ks back and forth

my high 2 cents

i plan on cooling them with 12" extraction and 12" intake, a long with a dehumidifier to compensate the amount of fresh air i might need due to the heat.

The mini grostars are great for heat disipation so i can get them closer than most shades, still though because there fixed on the same level of my 600's, im not sure they will be ok at the level id usually have my 600's.

What light setup would use all go for, in a 3m x 3m area.

Im not into the light movers prefer to have a fixed light

Did I miss where what sort of height there will be that will be usable growing space … as in the actual space between the top of the growing medium and the highest point a plant tip can to without risking burning? If it is a really tall height would you plan on using all or close to all of it on purpose? That alone might make it more sense going way than another.

should of mentioned that, the height from floor to ceiling is 2m, the pots will be on a small raised platform. 11lt pots with mini grostars reflectors which are quiet bulky in height, im grower small bushy indicas so not really a platform, what you reckon for heat though, i think the 1000's might be abit overkill

keep re-arranging the plants so the shorter ones are under the 1000 watt lights. or raise the outer rows so they are closer to 600 watt lights

Figure your actual usable growing height and then tell us if 1000’s are overkill and what sounds about right.

Start with your floor to ceiling height and subtract the number of inches from the floor to the top of your growing medium.

Now subtract the number of inches from the ceiling to the bottom of your lighting when it will be raised as high as it will go.

Then from that subtract the minimum amount of distance that you need to maintain between the tops of your plants and your lights so the tops don’t get cooked …. and that is your actual usable growing height.

How many watts is needed to cover that and in what combination is it best if multiple lights are needed when keeping that actual height number in mind?
