This is my first year growing and i seemed to see a lot of mites near my plant, so i was wondering can mites kill your plant? Also is their some sort of chemicals that you can spray on your plants to keep insects away but wont kill the plant?

Welcome to the forum. Mites are not good for your plants. There are several products that can be used. I use neem oil mixed with water to mist my plants every week except the week before harvest. VV

Mites are a pain in the royal a$#. first thing youu notice are lots of small yellow dots on the leaves. Phase 2 the dots spread at a fast rate leaves start yellowing and small white eggs are visible under the leaves. phase 3 (at this point you better give up) small silk webs on the leaves between nodes, in your buds the palnt looks dirty unhealthy...violated ,,, not a pretty sight.
