Miracle Grow Question

I have been talkin to a guy on rollitup that has a lot of succesful grows in their journal and they said they were using miracle grow moisture control. I went out and bought some today and I'm worried that it will burn my last seeds. Has anyone else used this soil straight up without any mix (perlite/verm.. etc) Thanks in advanced.

That's all that I use. Just don't over water! I'll tell you again, DO NOT over water. That is the biggest problem with people and MG. They water 2-3 times a week and then see nute burn because of the access water. Then they try to flush it out; which makes it worse because you're releasing the time release nutes even earlier. When plant are that young, you shouldn't be watering more then 1 maybe 2 times a week. Since you have the moisture control, I would say once a week.

I swear by MG and won't use anything else because I've tried them and don't think that they are any better. Plus, most other stuff came with gnats in the bag.

How are you germinating the seed? Paper towel method or straight into soil?

I did the paper towel method till they cracked and then i put them into seed starters, and 4/5 popped out of the soil yesterday, which have been transplanted today into a pot with the mg in it. Should i soak the plant now and not water for a week?

Ya, soak it up now and let it sit. It may even go longer then a week. What I do is after I germ in paper I place in a peat pellet. Once the first set of real leaf pops I get it ready for the soil.

I fill the cup half way with the soil and make a little pit in the middle for the peat pellet to sit.

Before placing the peat pellet I mist the soil, just enough to soak the first cm or so of the soil.

I place the peat in and then mist the whole peat pellet then cover with the rest of dirt.

I don't give a full watering of the cup until the roots have come out of the peat pellet.

What strain do you have?

I'm using MG moisture control also but i've done 50% MS, 25% Perlite and 25% Vermiculite mix. I like it so far but as Muaysmoke has stated don't over water with it. Below is a shot of one of my ladies at aout 4 weeks in the soil mix I mentioned above. I think she looks good but this is my 1st grow so I'm still learing a bunch.

Miracle grow .... hmmm... make sure you dont buy the " not for container" brand of MG...
Anyway it is highly potent with its own nutes, my test grow with MG and General Potting soil with organic nutes added,... guess what...? I got an extra 7 grams per plant with my general potting with organic nutes,... 1 plant not a big difff... but I had 50 plants so I made out with 350 Extra grams,.. .oh yeah, I didnt have to worry about over wattering and they were ORGANIC!!!
Good Luck

i use MG 3 month realease mixed with Hyponex soil (its made by the same company that owns MG) and i mix them with a tropic soil mix... i use Hyponex because its 2 dollars and it doesn't have NPK, which helps bring down the NPK in the 3 month release that can hurt seedlings at times...and i like the tropic mix, just because, don't have a real reason, i just think it helps (maybe its all in my head).... but i also sometimes just mix the 3 month with the Hyponex... but when its time for the first transplant, i'll add MG perlite...it works for me.... but basically, what i'm saying is... you can mess with MG and make it work, just gotta know what to do with it and how to handle it.... many people will try to detour you from it.. but thats there opinions... and there are different methods to watering... some pour water into their containers, i personally like to use a spray bottle and mist the soil twice a day... don't have overwatering issues....but good luck and don't worry... just show patience and things will work out

i used MG moisture control, and def. did not overwater and got severe nute burn from it. I even tested soil pH and water pH to make sure they were at optimum levels, etc...

ALL THE EXPERIENCED GROWERS ON HERE SAY STAY AWAY FROM MG!!!

nevertheless, i soon as i read about MG and all the problems it caused, i transplanted my plant (yesterday) and am already begining to see an improvement today.

my recommendation (and many others) is if you are using MG moisture control or any other MG product, TRANSPLANT asap

how you didn't overwater and had good PH, but still had nute burn... i thought Moisture Control meant you water LESS than with other soils, since Moisture Control soil holds in the moisture more.....
