I am a AN user and have been for years not because its better for your girls but because I'm lazy. This nutrient debate will never end because we all grow differently.

Here's the scoop IMO, any potting soil or mix that has a slow release formula should be avoided, you lose control of what is happening in the medium very easily. Nutrients are the same basically, anything slow release, no good.

Now saying that basically all chemical nutreints are made through the same process, each company believes they have the best formula, they all will work if your knowledge base allows. Companies like AN or Dyna try to make it sound like they are all that, for new growers its the way to go until you actually have some knowledge built up.

They all will work, they all will give tasty bud, don't let anyone tell you different. If you go with the generic versions like MG or Peters I wouls suggest in buying a good ppm meter, this way you gain control back. Buying "better quality" products allows for more of a mix and go situation.

To proove this point I am doing a trial right now. In a side by side test from the same mom I wil be showing Miricle Grow all purpose formula against my usual regiem of Advanced nutrients. They will get the exact same lovin and I will be natching the ppm to each through the cycle exactly. Im gonna start a thread with pics soon.

saying somebody cant grow if they cant get good buds with MG isnt really on point, we cant generalize MG, theres many lines of their soil and some of them are way too rich for mj(some strains react worse than others) but i admit organic choice hasnt done me wrong. not to mention the last times i used MG slow release(probably 3 years ago now) i experienced pH problems, nute burn and many mites seemed to be attracted to the soil. just look out for slow release, use it in moderation if you have it at your disposal and i suggest lots of perlite so your roots can breathe.

Hey i will say 1 thing about MG. It does NOT contain magnesium. That sucks. But on the brighter side epsom salt is only 3 bucks at walmart. So I still end up paying less than half of what foxfarms charges haha. I guess I'm just another "MG cheap ass" like the rest of us.

I'm a MG fan. Not of the potting mix, but their 'Expand N Gro' range. Its called that because when you add water to it, the soil expands to three times its original volume. Fair enough, but its also made up of organic matter (which when wet does the expanding), and has a decent texture. However I mix in 30% vermiculite (or perlite, remember don't breath the dust of either!), mix it all through, then soak the whole lot thoroughly. Once the dripping stops, I mix it again by hand. Now its ready to provide a solid base for vegetative growth. Only thing I change in flowering is I use a little phosphourous boost (blossom blaster) every few weeks during flowering, diluted too. I'm not claiming this is perfect, but its producing happy plants with no nute problems. 99% of my efforts are watering every 2-3 days as they require, zero fucking about with Ph or fancy expensive nutes, or unnecessary bio-whatever-science piss. It works for me and my plants, thats all I'm saying.

I keep it simple. So many put huge effort into making growing weed sooo complicated.

I also am known to dissolve a normal multivitamin in warm water, then include that water in one of the feedings. Not for the vitamins, but for the minerals within. Gentle, easy oasy, no problemo amigo. (sparks up a big assed cigar, just for giggles)
