Miracle Gro Potting Mix

when it dries, the drainage is so bad that the water will stay on top the soil for a good minute or two before going through one narrow little break in the miracle concrete. This stuff is absolute SHIT.... I don't have any intention on supporting them ever again.

Try sitting your container in a pot of water (pHed of course) that is 33% as TALL as your container.. let your plant container soak in this pot for 60 minutes...

This should give you a thorough watering...

cheers

if miracle grow is used and mixed properly there is absolutly nothing wrong with. it you cant just go pick up a bag at the store and put it in a pot however unless its potting mix. yeah if you take miracle grow garden soil and put in straight in a pot you are gonna have shitty results. it needs perlite, peat ,and lime as the ph right out of the bag is absolutly 5.5 .and as for all the hating on synthetic macronutes, the people that talk smack about them are the same people that order a t-bone steak from beef that has been feed grain that is raised w/synthetic macronutes,or pours a nice tall glass of milk that came from a cow that has been fed hay that was raised w/synthetic macronutes there is absolutly nothing harmfull with synthetic nutes there all derived from the same place nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur and all of those elements are of the earth with soil its personal prefrence not quantum mechanics

yeah but at 6 dollars a bag why would i then want to spend MORE money on making it function properly. Isn't the idea of bagged potting soil so that you don't have to mix your own. I just personally believe that they misrepresent the product extremely bad in their advertising. If I have to start mixing soil than I will just start from scratch. On top of that I have been continually reading reports of the ingredients being used as not even fully organic.

I guess I just have let a few bad experiences with it seriously bias my outlook on it.... the fact I have not had smoke in three days is not helping either ... so please do excuse my venting of frustrations.

garden knowm, dont you use mg potting mix? I read the CFL book and I believe thats what you used.... i bought it but I dont want to use it if its THAT bad. I am finishing using mg organic, it was ok but i wanted to try the potting mix.

I must have been stoned when I bought my soil. I've got Miracle Grow potting mix....extended release. I've used it for one previous grow with no problems. I just didn't add any nutes until flowering. However.....right now I've got a Skunk and a NL growing, (both fems). The Skunk is looking great but the NL....the leaves are turning brown and curling on the edges. Some have brown splotches. The NL is also taking a longer time to grow. Planted both on the same day. I'll be using Fox Farm Nutes, (the 3 pack) for flowering. I'm sorry if this a dumb question, but should I flush the NL or wait to see if it gets better? The MG I'm using says its 0.21% Nitrogen, 0.07 phosphate, and 0.14% Potash. Any advice appreciated. Thanks! :peace:

Some strains are sensitive to miracle grow, it may slow growth a lil in beggining and curl ur leaves a tad but have patience and wait for the sucker to kik in. My profile pic is sum1s 2 week old, 6 nodes and bushy underneath only 7 inches tall but bushier than hell. Everybody all hot on fox farm so I figure its for a reason. But miracle grow is so friggin available and cheap and will give u a healthy plant if u have all the other elements the way they shojuld be And dont over or under water.

I have 4 seedlings that I started in MG potting soil. They all grew pretty good, but the one that grew biggest and fastest; it's leaves are starting to curl under and the tips of a couple are turning brown and drying up really bad. I am not sure what is causing this. All I've been using is MG and water.

The one thing I hate about MG so far is the watering system. The soil stays damp forever after you water it and now I'm battling mildew. :wall: Jeez water is cheap I dont need soil that makes it so I have to water less.

Thanks. It is hard wading through all the miles of soils and bullshiit.

If your potting soil contains Mycorrhizae then it is good stuff. I would also look for products with dolomitic lime as well. If you have these two KEY ingredients, you are buying the best soil no matter the brand.

Dolomitic lime keeps soil PH in check no matter if you fuc up with over fertilizing or whacked out PH's in the water.

Dolomitic lime acts as a neutral PH buffer so your soils PH does not get accidentally swung the wrong way on accident. It is a safe guard for soil health and again only the good potting soils contain it.
do me a favor and start this as a thread.... this would make great convo... a lot of people would love this info

and miracle grow is good.... to make things easier on yourself... use some of these mixtures people will give you.... like 50% perlite and MG...it will benefit you since MG is harsh on Noobs.... simply because Noobs are anxious and will most likely over water, which will cause nute burn

i plan on mixing my MG with Perlite, not quite 50-50 but I will mix it and have a perlite base. I think this would make it easier for me to grow in it. I was going to add vericulite but was told it may make the soil too spongy.

I did mix MG potting soil with Perlite, I did a 2-1 mix but I did have a perlite base (about an inch and a half). I then used a peat plug to plant my germed ak48 and put it all under 2x27w 3200 lumens lights. I will do another AK48 and two Power Skunk the same way. Once they sprout, I'll post pics.

I am hoping the mix lessens the nut issues many have and I think the best thing to do is not to over water. I am going to use the Bud For Less watering schedule since he used pure MG.

Lets see how it goes.

Good luck over there. BTW, I have a hempy grow which although pretty slow is great.
