ok everyone the Mn medical marijuana bill is back and i have done my part by writing an email to every single mn state senator/congressman and hereby urge every one of you to do the same(within reason lol)
feel free to use my letter as an example and take any part of it you like.
Dear senator,
My name is (your name here), I am a disabled veteran of the US Army. I proudly served to the best of my ability before I suffered a major reaction to an anthrax vaccine I was given prior to my units deployment to Ramadi. I am writing to you today in regards to this medical marijuana bill which is being presented this year. I am not now, nor have I ever been a user of any illicit drugs to include marijuana and will be the first to admit I used to be very against the legalization of medicinal use of this plant. Also, I did not consider myself an activist for either side, I merely stumbled upon this topic by accident and wanted more information as to why my state was considering this.
Since finding out about this bill I have done extensive research into this field and have read and viewed everything I can get a hold of on this subject. And I also must admit that my mind has been thoroughly changed. I now support the medical marijuana bill and urge you to do the same. This plant can be used as a therapeutic medicine for many people who are extremely sick. I often think back now to my grandmother who died of cancer and think if I had known then what I do now I would have gladly obtained this drug in hopes that it would have relieved some of her pain and discomfort regardless of any consequence.
This is a very clear cut case for me now. It should never be the decision of law enforcement to impede a doctors prescriptions/advise nor should they stand to regulate what laws a state makes, they are merely there to enforce laws that are made. This is also a states rights issue and I believe it is this states moral obligation to help these people who may benefit from this bill.
As to marijuanas health effects I submit to you a table of deaths directly resulting from the following causes which has been established in the Journal of American Medicine:
Annual Causes of Death in the United States
I understand you are very busy but encourage you to please take some time and view the following videos about this subject. If you are unable to view the full length documentary I at least strongly urge you to have a staffer view it and report back on its information. It was started as one Canadian mans way to fight marijuana use and the more information he received about it he began to become a supporter not only of medicinal use but regulation and taxation as a viable business venture for the government as well.
The following are a list of 2 minute video segments put together by MPP, a non profit organization which is devoted to the study of marijuana effects both good and bad.
