Mini-split A/c system

Summer is coming and I want to upgrade to a minisplit system.

Anyone gone through the process? Mainly I am wondering if I should buy locally / have someone install, or buy over the internet / have someone install or try to do it all myself...

Also... should I just go ahead and get the 24k if I can't really decide if 18k is really gonna cut it? Running 4 x 1kw.. w/ co2

I guess the last question would be... who is a certified Minisplit hvac technician (green card friendly) in the valley ... and what am I looking at if I do go that route cost wise?

Thanks guys

CHeck out some of the grow stores in the Valley.. I know a Hydro Depot , and Homegrown Hydro depot have them on display so ask them who a installer is.

Unfamiliar with the minisplit system, but recently heard about them. I was going to use a dual hose unit, but found out it leaks inside air, which is not efficient if running CO2. Looking forward watching the reviews on the post....tx

You can get away with a dual hose it leaks some but not as much as a single hose.... Mini Split or central AC is the best for a sealed environment with co2.

i just bought 2 mini splits both 24000BTU cooling/heating/dehumid i have 2 different 4kwatt flower rooms and im going to be putting one in each room.. i ordered mine from minisplitwarehouse... i was told 18000BTU would be really close so i just went with the 24000BTU unit... you will need somebody to vacuum out the lines either HVAC guy or somebody with the tools to do it... cost for the unit can be between 1200-2000 maybe more depending on the seer rating and brand.. i paid 2700 for both units free shipping... my HVAC guy is hooking mine up for 100$ per unit that price may vary tho

i used to run a dual hose and it wasted soooooo much co2 it was stupid
That bad huh??? Yeah I converted a spare bedroom to a grow room so I get to use the house central AC...I get a good 8 days on my 20lb tank and thats about the best you can do in a 10 x 10 room.. I weather stripped my doors it helped out a lot ..

Yah that dual hose wastes a ton of air...

Thanks for the info guys... If your hvac guy (does he have a green card?) wants another 100 bucks I'll likely be ordering mine too from the minisplit warehouse... Which brand did you decide on and how did you determine to go with that one? I know I want inverter technology but past that the reviews are really hit and miss.

i run single hose 14k Koldfronts. I know it's not perfect but it keeps my main building AC from running constantly and I got em for $280. They work perfect for my 12x16 2500w room.

A couple of years ago I installed 12 X 24k mini splits in a warehouse I set up (for 400+ LEGAL plants). Also installed 4 5 ton commercial units in the same location, tho I didn't charge those units.. we had a "friendly" HVAC tech get those running. It was dead simple... place the outside unit (compressor) on solid surface... run the lines out and attach to the heads... attach vacuum pump at the main unit and vacuum the lines for a minimum of 1/2 hours. Seal it all up and you are good to go!

Will be buying a few mini splits for my new location very soon.

my growing friend. may you always be as fortunate as you have been so far. i would just like to point out that you are posting details in an open forum about a system you are putting in that will be illegal in a few short months. mmmmm

goductless.com you can buy them in 12,000 btu that run on 115volt and come with installation kits, you can install it in a couple hours and don't need an hvac tech.

That's not entirely true. He could renew in July and then have an entire year. And who knows what will be changed in that year. I have a feeling that you work for a potential dispensary operator. Especially since this is the only point you made here.

Best that can be done?? This is off topic, but I do not run any AC and my 20lb tank lasts 3-4 WEEKS for my 12.5' X 15' flower room, depending on outside temps.
