I've got a strain of easy ryder running right now that has astonished me with growth speed. I have a Flash Cobra, NL auto, Dina auto, nirvana bubblicious auto, and the easy ryder growing side by side and the ryder is beasting them all. I was doing something similar, in the 4 gallon rubbermaid I mentioned earlier I have 2 cfls aiming down and 3 side ways. I keep them under the verticle ones til they get close then remove the bulbs and put them under the horizontal. I also have the side ones on movable sockets so I can raise them. Frankly I've had so many less problems germing in small spaces than I ever did anywhere else.I just put 1 cfl above, 2-3 to the right. Then everyday I rotate the plant and mine has stayed small and stocky, I do have an autoflower though but I think the same general principles apply.
Good luck with your grow, interested to see how it goes.
