Mildew or good bud? Please help!

Hello everyone,

I am hoping to get your expert opinion on my buds, do they look infested with mildew?
I read everywhere on the web about it and still confused about it. It looks too furry, almost powdery to touch. The smoke is smooth but completely tasteless and there are no web like structures anywhere on the bud. If I tap the buds lightly, I can see some light/dusty material fall, unsure if it's mildew or just old trichomes.

Hoping the pictures are of good quality, please let me know your expert opinions! Would hate to throw away all the buds. , Hoping it's just trichomes.

I have broken the bud in the attached pictures in the hope that it might show different areas of the bud- stem, leaves etc , which may help you diagnose it better. The whole bud is absolutely fully covered
with hair like structures, can they be trichomes ? Look at the amount of them on the stem!

Its hard to see any powdery mildew [PM] in those pics.
A large top not broken up might show some.
But youd have seen it on the plants during flower especially the fan and sugar leaves.

What you are seeing is mostly plant hairs, a plant structure [i forget the botanical term] that does not get you high.

Its common too see dust fall from your buds. Maybe its PM, sometimes its trichomes but mostly its dust.

Being completely tasteless could mean the bud is still kinda fresh and needs more drying or curing. But PM will definitely decrease the flavor of your buds.

Will definitely try and dry it a bit more , I'm not sure what happened during the grow as I got it from a friend. Is there a definite way to tell if its mildew ? I read somewhere that a black light works, is it true ?

Also forgot to mention, the joint keeps going after every drag! The buds look pretty dry , so I am thinking maybe it's the mildew?

That is definitely mould that happened with improper drying. I usually manage to get that on one small portion almost every crop and it goes right into the oil pot. Smoked plenty like that in the past and it never hurt me none but it's not all that good for you.

Smoke it at your own risk my friend. Maybe it will fight off Covid in your lungs if you happen to get infected but I doubt it. lol
