so i finally may be moving to marijuana friendly state. i must say i am very excited. what's it like though?

is the weed really as fire as i'm expecting? i've dealt with nothing but street weed my whole life and know there's the fire somewhere out there.
what is pricing like? i've heard tax on marijuana is really bad..makes me sort of nervous
how easy is it to get a card?
what are the laws concerning growing? i believe it is 6 plants if i have my medicinal card and i'm not sure how the whole caregiver thing works.

if ya know any answers to these questions you are of-course more than welcome to answer. also if you have any other info you believe may be relevant i'm all ears. any input is greatly appreciated!

i'd also like to know what it's like to live there. i've heard it is absolutely beautiful so i'm not too concerned with this.:leaf:i'm excited!:mrgreen:
 
Weed, like any place varies upon who you know and where you go. It might take a bit but you'll find a connection with fire.

Pricing varies on location and availability, shops in Co Springs typically range from 20-45 for 1/8 it seems.

Getting a card isn't too bad if you can explain your legitimate use for marijuana.

With amendment 64 you can grow 3 plants in veg, 3 in flower. With a card you might be able to grow more.

Colorado is beautiful, I came from Texas, and I'm glad we did. Cost of living is less, and the scenery is amazing, the people
for the most part are very nice too.

nausea is an accepted reason right? "dr..my stomach bothers me terribly in the mornings and causes me to skip breakfast thus creating anxiety for me throughout the day all the while throwing off my diet. you think marry can help?" - yay or nay??

oh! so you don't even need a card to grow. ok, i did not know that, thank you. hopefully someone will explain the whole caregiver thing and maybe list some benefits to having the mmj card.

come on coloradians tell us what it's like to live in your state:leaf:

Pic thread. Welcome to colorado! Oh and also "SEVERE Nausea" is a Colorado qualifying condition for a red card, not sure if its applicable to you, thats between you and your doctor.

Severe Nausea
Severe nausea can often be a side effect of another illness, and is one that can lead a patient toward malnourishment and exhaustion. Patients undergoing treatment for other illnesses such as cancer or Leukemia who are required to be treated with chemotherapy will often experience continued nausea to the point of being unable to ingest anything. Colorado medical marijuana patients have found that using the drug as part of a prescribed regimen greatly reduces symptoms of nausea and often stimulates the appetite. Nausea can be caused by a number of conditions, and the inhaled use of medical marijuana has been shown to be a more effective treatment than traditional medicines which in some cases patients may not be able to keep down.
 
If you're coming here just to abuse the system we don't need or want you here. If you're coming here to abide by the laws we had to fight so hard to set in place come on down. I suggest you do some independent research about the laws here in CO and quit looking for a hand out. That nausea bullshit will get you no where. We didn't put all the time and effort into changing our laws to let a few people move here and Fuck it all up. We are on the cusp of achieving something great here. It takes responsibility and dedication. Not looking for every little loop hole to exploite.

The law fucks us with loop holes all the time.
Relax man... the government already knows people take advantage of it and don't care.
As long as their getting their share man. It's all about money..
 
You guys don't realize how easy if will be for us to lose this privilege. Obama said they will stay out of it as ling as the laws are upheld. The more people exceeding their limits, caught selling to minors, makin moves before they read the laws, blowing up ther places making bho, the easier it will be for the feds to come back. This is a test and we have the ability to show everybody we can handle this like grownups.
 
I never said stay out. I said if you're here to break laws stay out. The big picture guys. If he looked up the laws he would of known that nausea wouldn't cut it further more you don't need to be a card holder to grow anymore. Think of the big picture is all I'm saying. I am born and raised in Colorado so yes it is my Colorado I take great pride in my state not just mmj. If you lived here you're whole life you would too.
 
MMJ can't be the only reason you are moving here. If you pick a bad neighborhood to move to and have a crappy job, well that is going to suck. If you pick a great area to live and are a good neighbor and have a good job, well, the mmj laws are just frosting on the cake. Please learn to drive like a local instead of the folks with Texas plates who all seem to think they have some special access to the passing lane and can cut other drivers off. There be good people in CO, let's all try to be good people. Makes for a very nice place to be.:bigjoint:
 
There seems to be a pattern with TX licensed vehicles being operated poorly, like the drivers are always distracted. I have driven in Dallas and see the agressive style of tailgating and passing, cutting it too close, just basic asshole type stuff. It is one country, but there are differences in driving styles. AZ gets my vote as having the worst drivers, followed by FL. But there is a special place in Hell for drivers who pass on the right at highway merges while chatting it up on the phone and use the passing lane to block the safe flow of traffic. If you want to drive bad at least get a grey hair wig and a 20 year old Caddy so we can be warned.
 
Seems like everywhere has people who feel a sense of ownership of the place where they live, especially if they have stayed their whole lives. You can buy a "Native" sticker for every city in the country. :bigjoint:

One good way to relocate is to live near work to make the drive easier. That there is the best advice you will find.

It is easy to get a red card. There is great weed in the dispensaries and you might find some on CL, but personally I would never use CL because of the high prices, the risk of robbery or getting crap and the risk of having involvement with the police. Smoking pesticides or bugs is possible with CL too. Just grow your own and have as much as you want for cheap and the act of growing is good for your mental health. It forces you to be organized. And there is a way to do it legal and have all the weed you want. Until you get your garden going there are tons of great dispensaries.

i guess you are one of those people who believe the only form of research is using google.com..well guess what? posting on a forum can also be considered a very effective form of research. who better to ask my questions to than a forum dedicated to those who live in the state i'm inquiring about? ok, so nausea won't get me anywhere. can i be honest and say i suffer from extreme anxiety as well as bipolar one, and marijuana has a profound effect on my mania? i'm not sure if mental health is an accepted reason for red cards, but aside from recreation that is why i use marijuana. i don't have any serious pain or anything of that nature. i don't really understand why you are implying that i am the type of person that will "fuck it all up". i also don't understand why you think i am looking for loop holes..i just want to have a better understanding of the place i'm moving to.

what is with you people saying i'm exploiting...? my family is moving to colorado, and all i'm doing is researching the area where i am about to live. i see growing marijuana as a therapeutic experience and am very excited to grow my own medicine, but i also understand that once i move i probably will not enjoy my first harvest until around 4 months later. my mental health is greatly improved by cannabis and i don't even want to think about being sober for 4 months (just went 2 and a half months and am very happy to be back). i want to abide by colorado's laws so i want to pickup a card. what is it that you think i'm exploiting? do you think i don't have a valid reason to obtain a card or something..?

ok, but what makes you think i'm trying to break the law? after re-reading my post it seems clear that i am doing my best to follow the law. i did look up the laws aside from making this post, and nausea was listed as a valid reason to obtain a card. now i come here and ask about nausea, and am told this is not going to fly. see why posting a thread is an effective form of research? i understand you take great pride in your state, as you should, but i think you need to let your guard down a bit because i am good people and don't intend on fucking up what you all have worked so hard on.

i'm only 19 and i've always planned on living at home until i've graduated college. my mother received a job offer in colorado and asked if i'd like to stay or come with. i am in need of a fresh start and colorado seems like a beautiful place to live. mmj is definitely the icing on the cake, not the reason i'm moving. i'm moving for a fresh start and to stay close to my mother, she is the most important person in the world to me.
 
can we move this thread towards a more positive direction? i just want to hear from people who live in colorado first hand what it is like. once i move there's no turning back so i'm interested in all of the information i can get. nice ol bud also seems to want some info and i'm sure we're not the only ones.
 
Sorry I came off assholeish I just get tired of hearing this. so many people are trying to move here and make a quick buck. I'm cali mental illnesses are legit ways to get a med card but not here in CO. Too me just the way you worded things seemed to me like that what u were trying to do once again sorry. You don't need a red card to grow so you shouldn't have to worry about it.

My issue with the texas visitors is they act like the own this place and show us locals no respect when it was us takeing care of them this summer when all their rv sites were on fire.
 
Do you know what area you will be living? School can be expensive with the out of state tuition rates, so good luck with that. Living close to work is really a good idea as the commute can be tough and expensive with gas and wear and tear on the car, not to mention higher insurance rates than a lot of places. The light rail system is great, living near a station is good for students in Denver because there is a free pass deal at the big schools. Living with parent may mean no growing, and under 21 means a parent has to sign off on the red card if I understand the rules correctly. Good advice is to minimize your consumption for a while until you get to a good place, settled in and then, if time and money allow, sit back and enjoy a bowl. So many people put their desire for weed ahead of the important stuff. Like is said about getting married: Sex is like frosting on a cake, it isn't as good without the cake. Same as weed, it should just be frosting. So sex is like weed? Gotta think about this some more...
