Micro grow to keep many strains?

So I'm thinking on growing the following in a 3x3 space with plenty of head space and 1 x 300 w Mars Hydro:

1 Kali Mist
1 Lilly by ACE seeds
1 Her Majesty by ACE seeds
1 Ortega Indica by Dutch Passion

They're all Sativas except for the Ortega. I think the space is good enough but perhaps the light is not enough.

But I don't care about big yields, I only care about different varieties to try. If I keep them in small pots and keep toping them can I manage them all 4 under that light?

You might be ok with that light if you 12/12 from seedling with no veg. Sativas tend to get stretchy and tall in my experience. And not having much light will effect your yield. If it were me I might look to get a 400 watt dimmable HPS and use the 2 different lights. I have popped 4 like that under a 150 HPS and I have two small LEDs for additional Lighting. But, I ended up culling 2 and have only ever grown out to finish two with that lighting. Those were Sativa Dom autos. A Northerm lights and Dinafem Amnesia XXL. I also did a DNA Lemon skunk and Dinafem Amnesia photos with the same set up, 12/12 from seedling. Was never meant to be a great yield but, the smoke was top shelf. That's how us micro dudes do it. To be honest. Since you don't already own the 400 watt HPS If I were you I might also consider getting a COB instead. It's just I've never used one so.... Check with those dudes about them. They seem to be the next big thing in lighting. @ttystikk ? What say ye sir?

That Mars Hydro fixture only throws out about 135W, which would only cover 1/3 to 1/2 of the space you have. Cut down your grow area so that you're only growing in a 2'x2' portion of the 3'x3' space, and you should be okay.

Yes I think even though the space is 3x3 I am using the lamp on a 2x2 area and that's where I want to pack 4 plants but like Growurowndank said, I think I will turn them to 12/12 early, probably after 2 weeks of seedling life.

What do you think?

If you're going to put 4 plants in a 2x2 space, you better have a very short veg time... I fill a 4x2.5 space with 3 plants

Swallow hard, buy a COB LED fixture or DIY one. You'll be thanking us for talking you into it for years and years...

Or buy a 400W HPS and cuss every six months when you change bulbs and winder why you have scorched twigs to show for your hot tent and electric bill.

Really just depends on your grow style. I'm in a 34"x34" and just ran 6 plants. Did ~370g. Weren't gigantic, but definitely 2-3' about 3 week veg.

What? Which one damn? Dude! Give up the link! I can certainly build one. I would rather just buy one tho. Seriously bro. Not enough information. I know you have competitors. But damn. I ain't one. I'm like so wasted on this Amnesia today tho. I will copy and paste it for when I am straight. Give up the info stingy homie.

I'm not being stingy at all, these pages are crawling with some of the planet's best light sources for growing plants; Johnson Grow Lights, Tasty LED, Pacific Light Concepts, anyone who will screw together a heat sink, some CXB3590 chips and a Meanwell driver into something that makes brightness when plugged in!

For a DIY project I would use Brightlux LEDs, that's what we used in the aquarium hobby and they are 80% as bright as CREEs but 1/3 the price.

What about 1 of these. The price seems reasonable. Keep in mind i don't do commercial so don't need the best of the best like you guys.

34" x 34" is 8 sq. ft., twice the size of the grow space in question.
If you put 8 plants in that space (to have the same space per plant as the OP) instead of 6, wouldn't they be too packed in?
Hence it's more than just a grow style question.
If you're going 12/12 from seed, I'm sure that would be fine.

From germination, how long do you recommend?
It depends on the laws in your state.
Some places limit the number of plants but others limit the size of the canopy.
If you're ignoring such niceties, just use the SOG method if you want to maximize yield, and go 12/12 from seed with 4 plants.

Yeah and I had a fairly long veg time for the space. I have 12 plants in there right now, and plan on sticking another 12 in for this cycle for sog. Will be 24 plants in my 8 square feet. So no. It isn't more than just a grow style lol. I could stick 40 clones in there with no veg time if I wanted, or I could do one big plant.

Obviously the op couldn't grow the same amount of plants the same size as I am, in a tent twice his tents size... That doesn't make any sense. He could do the same amount of plants with probably half as much veg time.

I would almost say the same amount of veg time unless he can keep up with my veg and flower in my dwc setup I have pretty dialed in.

No idea. Those seem a bit too good to be true... or they're gonna run way hot.

Thanks. All the talk about COB all over the RIU got me wanting to see what it's all about. Truth is. I got more than I really need for my tiny little set up I do. I'm sure the DIY work very well because everybody seems to be head over hills in love with theirs. I think I'll just hold off on that idea for now.

Having gotten a taste of electronics assembly in the form of wiring up my 315W CMH kits, I feel confident that I could build my own COB LED lighting.

So if I let the seedlings grow 16/8 for like 2-3 weeks then switch to 12/12 the strategy wouldn't work?
