Micro Grow Kit, Would you buy this?

  • Hey guys I'm just seeking advice from some RIU members.


    I've recently had the idea to start making "Micro Grow kits" For example, Alot of people want to make there own stealth grows and they'll look on eBay, but the shelf/case etc the seller uses doesn't meet the buyers criteria.

    In the kit I would include.

    -4 2700k Bulbs and 4 6500k bulbs (CFL's 26W)
    -8-Outlet Power Strip
    -2 12v AC Adapters (To wire PC Fans)
    -4 (80mm Case Fans)
    -Foxfarm Soil
    -Reflective mylar 35" x 25" I would include two big sheets.


    I was thinking of marketing this product as $124.99 and free shipping. It may seem pricy but keep in mind you get ALL of the items you would need in one shipment. I understand some people can go to the hydro store or buy it themselves at a much cheaper price. But for the people who want to grow and want to do this all at once, this is a good idea.

    This isn't an advertisement, I'm simply looking for an overall opinion.​

My first question is how are you going to sell someone all the materials without the cab? You'll have to answer tons of support messages with people asking you about how big of a cab, what material, guarantees, etc. So if the current sellers aren't selling suitable cabs...how are you offering a better "deal" by selling components with NO cab?

Even if you did offer a cab with components...even then, why are you better than the other sellers? What makes your cab or recommendations better than cabs that are pre-cut (need assembly) and those that come prebuilt? If their cabs aren't "good" why is yours "better"? How is your cab going to be a one-size-fits-all that beats everyone elses offer?

Will you have social proof or testimonials on how well your kit performed?

Good idea, but looks like you got more kinks to work out before taking it to the market.

The flaw is the lack of a cab as mentioned...that will be your achilles tendon. Then again, people will buy crap so it might be worth a try if you want to satisfy an urge.

What is your competitive advantage? How is your product different or proprietary in any way. What problem does it solve for the consumer? All the items you've listed are easily found online or in a large box store and are cheap.

Give it a go and see what happens....what do you got to lose? I'm sure if someone on here said they grew with an incandescent bulb and a disco ball as a reflector someone would buy it.

Cfl's are dead to a lot of people, especially with LED bulbs or just led fixtures, that are really good and only will get better over time. Especially with choice of white spectrum.

The only reason I could think of using cfl's is as a heat source.

Mylar screams newb.
