Good strains for first time Michigan grower?

Hey man, im right across the lake from you. Since its your first time and our climate is similar I would suggest trying to get a month of growth inside b4. It greatly improves there chances.

I usually start to germ halfway thro march. The more grow time the better.

if you are far north i would go with one of the "early" strains, have you thought about autoflowers at all?

I live in Michigan, and I find that sativa/indica mixes do great, any of these should do good 50/50 or 40/60. Try to start in doors around march 1st (Veg for two months)move to out side around May 1st (this will avoid the crazy michigan weather), you will be finish around the middle of July. If you start from scratch you will be a October harvest, and the michigan sun is weak around this time.
Also Operation hemp will be on your ass. Be careful.

What type of lamp should you vegg?

MH HID or if your on a budjet 3 26w 6500k cfl and one 26w 2700k.

In my opinion get t5 floros they are great for veg and cheap and put out more lumens than cfls
And not sure about the deer in ur area but if they are there they will try to find your shit.
