Ok i just signed up and figured i would share my first time experience and hopefully get some feedback and advice, if this is too long let me know too!
I Just got my patient card, I'm finally legal to get to work!
in my basement I have a 5'x5' veg room and i built a 10'x13' flowering room. To start off, I have a set of clones in a small covered grow tray and I constructed a ez-cloner out of a 5 gallon bucket, so far so good with those. Then i made a drip system for my clones once they start to take off. The strains I'm currently growing are OG Kush and Wonder Haze. I also acquired a small plant from seed, which is from Amsterdam....I wish i knew what it was! as you'll see in the pics I'm using a 400w MH with cfl supplemental lighting, all under 18 hour light. one of the OG's i am growing in dirt. As a newbie the woder haze i hit with Humboldt County Bushmaster and kept it in the resevoir for a week. they halted at 12" and bushed out like crazy!! we'll have to see if this is a good thing or not...
Next for the flowering room. I lined the entire room including the floor in inch and a half rigid insulation the lined it all in panda film and sealed it with tyvek tape. I mad a carbon exhaust pushing 270 cfm's and an intake from the crawlspace with about the same cfm's . I've added Co2 which i pump in at select intervals and shut off the intake and exhaust while doing so. The Co2 is piped behind an oscillating fan to blow it around. So far these girls have been in here for about a week. I've got three OG and three WH on a 3'x3' flood and drain in 6" pot surrounded with hydroton. Then I've got my Amsterdam girl in soil. The lighting in here so far consists of 2 400w HPS low bay...which i heard is not good as far at the reflectors go...

So far the problems I've encountered:
Dark green leave curling under like claws...i think to much nitrogen
Possible screw up with the bushmaster
This morning as lights turned on the temp was 52 and 60 percent humidity...a small heater should help with that
Also I've gotta do something about the vertical HPS lights
