Michigan groups move to legalize recreational marijuana

At least 3 separate groups in Michigan have announced plans to place a voter initiative on the November, 2016 ballot in Michigan to legalize recreational marijuana use. Two of the groups are already preparing language for the proposed ballot initiatives, and have taken steps to begin fundraising in support of the measures. Both plans call for a tax and regulatory scheme similar to that enacted in Colorado, with perhaps slightly lower tax rates (far too early to bet on that, in my opinion).

One group, The Michigan Cannabis Coalition, has created a GoFundMe page to support their petition drive, and the fundraising page goes live on - wait for it - 4/20.

Interestingly, when I looked at this online this morning, there are already 15 states planning to put either medical or recreational marijuana use on the ballot in 2016. It doesn't impact me as much one way or the other, I have a medical card, so I'm legal now. It does seems as if the recreational legalization movement is gaining some traction, though.

Definitely. By 2020 20+ states will likely be legal or on their way. By 2026 or before we will see changes to federal law regarding the reefers and marihuana cigarettes.
