MH vs HPS for flowering

I know this has been asked and I have read many of the responses but I have a new angle I think. I know HPS is better for flowering. It seems to be a fact from what Ive read but I have heard that MH may be slightly superior when it comes to bud quality. So my question. I have a 2x4 tent with a 400w HPS in it. Supposedly this is nearly the maximum amount of light the plants can use, 6250 luments/sq. ft. However, would I get better results from a 600w MH in such a space as the lumen count is similar but the MH has a more complete spectrum? or is there some sort of hormone released in the plants when more red light is present that causes bigger buds? My last question is, assuming that the lights produced the same quality buds would the yield be similar between a 400hps and a 600mh in flower?

its not so much the bud size, its the density due to higher resin content, however, that is based on 400hps vs 400wmh. the 600wmh will promote a much more vigorous vegetative production period and in turn provide more real estate for flower fibre. if you are looking for overall production the 600w is the way to go. if your lookin for the stickiest possible personal, then 400whps! ideally you would use the 600w for veg, and both (space and power required) for the flower period. if u have both lamps, it would b worth your while to switch lamps when you switch light cycles.

Use the MH for the last 2-3 weeks of FLOWERING........it will help your potency.other than that just put it on the shelf
