also if you legalized all drugs the cartels cannot become stronger, they will have to get into some kind of legitimate bizzness kinda like they do now but minus th e drug dealing.if you take away the illicit demand for marijuana, cocaine,heroin, and meth what will they be left with?

i'm not defending the addict, as they are responsible for their own predicaments.

i think meth use would be of a much lower percentage among junkies, since its mostly popular in places where other substances are scarcely available. not trying to argue a side, just presenting a theory.

Here's your justification:

The government has NO BUSINESS telling us what we can and can't put in our bodies, even if it's "bad" for us. Especially when their definitions of "bad" are so arbitrary as to allow use of a DEADLY substance (tobacco), yet disallow use of a nonlethal drug (THC) and put people in jail for it.

Your so-called "hardcore" drugs have been illegal for decades, and their production and use hasn't slowed down one bit.

the mere fact that prohibition is a HUGE FAIL is justification enough to stop putting people in jail for using drugs. Any drugs. Period.

Addiction is a sickness, not a crime.


It's not as if Mexico were the first country to do this, either. Portugal decriminalized the use of all drugs almost a decade ago, and the UN PRAISED Portugal this year for the huge strides they've taken in reducing drug use and drug-related crime. The only reason it's such a big deal that Mexico is following suit is because Mexico shares the border with the US, and the US has seen a lot of drugs and drug-related violence spilling over the border from Mexico.
