Messing with auto's light schedule

Hey!
So, I wonder how would auto react to inconsistent lght schedule? Like randomly turning it off, or occasionaly leaving it on over night(if you go 20/4 or 18/6). Can it maybe go hermie? Get smaller/bigger yields? Slower/faster growth\finish?
I have a ghetto cfl grow, second week from seed, and I'm just curious. Wanna mess with it and see what happens. I'm doing 20/4 lights

this has been tested before autos do best with some dark and more light like an 18/6 or 20/4 best seems to be 19/5.. as for switching the cycles all the time.. it might cause the plant to stress out which intern causes it to switch sex and lose yield

There was a thread on here where someone argued with me that they had better results from 24/0 than 20/4 and allegedly had the proof to back it up. It's a matter of heated debate among auto growers. Regardless, varying the lights shouldn't have any positive impact; Autos ignore the amount of light each day and just grow (it's in the name, after all ;) )

I agree with HolyGhost that wild variations like that could stress it and cause it to hermie. There's really no reason to bother with it all; autos benefit from lots of light every day; if you want the best yields just give them light, nutes, and water and let nature take its course.

Feminized seeds that are subject to stress tend to become hermies, and their pollen tends to produce more hermies, not males. You're better off just buying non fem seeds and saving the pollen from the males in your freezer until you need it.

I think 20/4 is best they like to sleep
