so ive been under the impression that you need some good seeds to grow what everyone sells as "kush"(just weed better than the average dro not actual kush) but i took some seeds from some ditchweed and grew this stuff that smellss piney and super sweet and its extremely crystally and gets me higher than most "kush" sold around here, is it really about genetics or do all strains have potential to be amazing?

its very possible that some ignorant grower didn't take care of a chronic strain and ended up with crappy buds, but just because people call it 'kush' doesn't mean it is. Kush is a specific strain of weed and you cant really be too sure unless you got the seeds from a reliable source (some dealer calling his dope 'kush' doesnt count lol)
anyway, if its good shit, smoke on my brother :joint:

ok, look at it this way...

A) you are probably a better grower than most people
B) it's easier to grow good weed in smaller batches
C) most bud on the streets is grown in huge quantities
D) if you grow almost ANY weed using good nutrients and proper attention it will turn out tasty and strong
E) genetics determines the overall potential of the plant - grow that same shit side by side with legit AK 47 and you'll notice a huge difference in: yield, taste, and strength

overall always go with the best genetics you can afford, it will make you more money in the long run. But I'd rather have random bagseed bud grown well than some hermied, stringy, fluffy "white widow"

Dont worry, Im getting to the bottom of this long going battle right now. I have two good, Kush and a Purple strain, seeds growing right now. They are side by side with two mids/ schwag/ reg seeds. If I get lucky I will have a female from each (highly doubtful) and I can do an experiment.

some bagseeds get a bad name.. after all, some of the most legendary strains known to man have come from random bags of bud.. think chemdawg, and therefore diesel...
chemdawg came from some bag of weed that the guy chemdawg bought at a dead show back in the 90's, and had 13 seeds in the bottom of the bag.. those 13 seeds have gone on to pretty much change weed as we know it today.. but they started life out as some random bag seeds.. i always love when people say that bag seeds will always be garbage..
the bad thing about bag seed is that you never really know what you're growing, therefore you don't know what to expect for flowering times, height of plants, size, yield, quality, quantity, potency, etc etc..
but given the chance to be grown out right with some love and care, bag seeds can grow into some really nice plants.. not always mind you, but sometimes.. that's another thing, bagseeds can be a gamble.. you could have the next chemdawg, or spend 18 weeks of your life growing some hermie prone mexican brick weed.. you won't know till you grow it..
this is why i like to buy quality seeds from quality breeders.. it cuts down on the gamble, and i can pretty much determine what my end product is going to be if i can give it all of its needs and wants and make it a happy plant.. i will know who tall it is going to get, how much stretch it's going to give, how much yield i can expect, etc etc..
