Mephisto duds?

Ive been growing Fast Buds and Growers Choice for years with fine results. No complaints.

A friend recommended Mephisto Genetics. He couldn't say enough about them.
So I bought some. Started 2 seeds in water overnight, next day in a wet paper towel, placed in a ziplock bag. Check them 2 days later, beautiful! Each had a nice tap root.
Planted them each in a 10 gallon soft pot, in great soil and placed them outside in a place of honor in my yard. Filtered sun, sheltered.
They each grew to 2" and stalled. Stop growing.after 10 days they both collapsed.
What the hell?

Started 2 more. Except this time indoors in my tent. Once again, soaked in water, then paper towel and ziplock. Perfect sprouts with nice looking tap roots.
Plant them in really well amended soil, and under a 600w MH light, with the ballast dimmed down by 50%.
Same deal. They come up about an inch, and just sit there. For a week, no growth!
Nice and green, soil is moist.

Is it Mephisto or me somehow?

Sounds like old seeds or runts maybe but with them being pretty sought after idk how long a pack of there seeds gets to sit about if you been doing autos for years with other companies and never had this issue till now and your sure you ain't over watering and it's not damping off etc I would not be so quick to blame yourself you could just be unlucky and got a old or iffy batch maybe look on a few forums see if anyone else has had the same issue with whatever strain it is your growing from them I'm curious have your temps been a bit cold maybe ? I know that can slow em

I’ve grown a couple dozen mephisto strains and most all have been great but I have had a few runts; strawberry nuggets, skywalker and sundae thumper. All three seemed to be light feeders vs my others so I chalked it up to me stunting them with soil that was a bit hot for their liking.

Bottom line. Autos are very unpredictable and border line unstable. I'm still of the philosophy that they are awesome to sneak into your veg room for some profit off your veg lights , or they r nice to run early outside for a extra harvest. I'm my opinion they shouldn't be the focus of a long term grow set up tho

If they sprout a root and die, you did something wrong.
Well there was this one time:
I got a seed pack of GH Exodus Cheese and none germed. The second seed pack they sent to replace the first (good seedbank support) I sanded the shells and soaked in gibberellins, only one popped and it had no apical meristem, sigh. So my looking about has been unfruitful.
