Mephisto 3 Bears OG outdoors at my wonderful GF house

These are on day 31, and were hardened off in the shade for a week after spending their first three weeks indoors. The indoor enclosure had some pretty intense side lighting and I trained the lower branches outward to the edge of the milk crates. The GF and I carefully lowered the square tomato cages into place last night and zip tied them to the tops of the crates. Tons of the lower branches made the turn upwards already and are under the first lateral connector on the cages, so they will grow straight upwards on the outside of the cages.

I have tons of LST clips in place as well to direct new branches horizontally toward the cages, and I’ll weave them thru the openings when they reach that point.

I did not top them, and hope for a massive central cola with tons of other big ones throughout on the outside of the canopy.

they are in a stratified mix of organic Roots Lish, FF Ocean Forrest, FF Happy Frog and FF Light Warrior, with a dusting of DE. I’ll give them a top dressing of FF Strawberry Fields and seabird guano in a couple days.

pest management will be organic with Green Clean and I’ll treat the area (not the plants) with a peppermint based pet friendly repellent. I had another grow out there earlier this year and deployed green lacewings and ladybugs. Some of the lace wings stuck around but the ladybugs flitted off…I’ll deploy more lacewings as soon as they arrive.

they I’ll be on the FF feeding schedule with adjuncts along the way - Mammoth P, Recharge, Fish Shit, and some other stuff, with ph 6.4 drenches when it is hot and sunny. The next couple days call for afternoon thunderstorms so the GF graciously volunteered to pull them back into a screened porch for shelter. She is wonderful.

I also have a Mephisto grow going at my house under a different thread…those plants are indoors and will stay there as long as possible, and are on the NFTG Roman schedule.

harvest is anticipated in early/mid Sep. first set of pics spilt into two posts, electrons are cheap…

The milk crates make it easy to move them around, keep the bags in shape, and offer excellent points to use binder clips and pipe cleaners to keep branches horizontal.

Day 37; good dose of silica today to stiffen branches, I have everyone of them I can tucked under the first lateral on the cages. New branching further up the main stalk is developing well, and with LST clips I’ll direct toward the second opening from the bottom, and tuck them under the second lateral.

FF wk6, then recharge/fish shit in the next couple days, then pH6.4 water for a couple days.

they need a good defoliation to clear some undergrowth, and that’ll happen in a couple days.

some rain today then 3 dry days in a row with lots of sun. Gotta mow the lawn in the pen, and spray out some pet friendly peppermint based repellent. An order for another 1,000 green lace wings in in the works - lots of them still hanging around from the last batch I released.

the GF adopted these plants and carts them into the covered porch when we have downpours. She doesn’t partake, so that’s a winner and she’s a keeper…

We carted them inside for the night to shelter from a pelting thunderstorm. They’ll go back outside today and stay there for three days of sunny skies. One of them went into hibernation, but will come back as strong as ever I’m sure.

First pic was at 2100 last night. Droopy, and not,looking too happy. Second pic is at 0800 this morning, after 11 hrs under a ceiling fan on the screened patio. Standin’ tall, standin’ proud.

Day 40 and chuggin’ along.

some minor defoliation and leaf tucking and branch positioning…3 more days of dry sunny weather…finally.

Day 44 and filling in and out nicely. The tomato cages allowed me to get some lateral branches directed away from the center of the plant, and they are now in the sun most of the day. Should be some nice colas. Couple of them are developing what are gonna be sizable colas up the main stalk, that is aided by bending the branches at lower nodes laterally as well.

they need a good defoliation to clear the interior and will get a top dressing of strawberry fields and sea bird guano this week. Three more days of clear skies so trends are in the correct direction…

I wonder how many hummingbirds come in to check out the lst clips because of the color and go away very confused.

Not too many, there are tons of other flowers out the for them...the finches love the zinnias too.

Man, I love your wildlife pics. Birds keep me entertained all day out on the feeders on my deck. Enough to make the risk of bear encounters worth the trouble. I love the hummingbirds especially, because of their aerial combat over the feeders. We have a big group of them but my pics are blurry from my phone. I'll have to try and get some better ones with my camera sometime.

I like photographing birds and other wildlife. Will be out and about this week so stay tuned.

in the meantime here is a long overdue update on these beauties…they spent the day on the covered porch during heavy storms. They are still easy to move around in the milk crates, so the pampering will continue…

Day 63, planning on chop on Sunday. They are looking healthy and the trichomes are cloudy, with some amber showing. There are still a few white pistils here and there, but I’d rather take them a bit early this time of year…going late gets ya into prime caterpillar and bud rot season around here. I’ll take my winnings off the table.

the buds are fairly dense and should make for a pleasant autmun…

I can hear the Cannatrol groaning from here. Does it ever get a break . Congrats on another great harvest! Hope the chop goes smoothly for you

Yeah the Cannatrol has been running for quite a while; it really does a great job…

I trimmed them heavily today in the sun to prepare for,the chop tomorrow. Right now they are in the dog/laundry room, which is the coolest room in the house (around 65 degrees) with a fan blowing directly down in them. The last couple of days here have been very sunny and oppressively humid so they will apprecite the breeze.

I hung a friend’s spider farmer panel in front of them to pelt with one last barrage of light before tomorrow. I’ve done that before (24 hrs of light before trim) and it will help them dry out some over night and suck the last nutrients out of the soil.

they will get a peroxide/baking soda wash and hang for a couple hours before the final trim then 8 days in the Cannatrol and then bingo, Yahtzee, winner winner chicken dinner, wowie zowie…or sumpthin’ like that…

The harvest went quickly with the GF and a grow buddy and his wife; it was a social occasion as much as a trimming session which was cool. I/we were very, very generous in tossing stuff into the larf bucket, so buds went in there that coulda been trimmed down, but they woulda been tiny, so we pitched them into the bucket. Should make for some fun with dry ice hash and the bubble machine.

they spent last nite in the GFs shower on a laundry rack so had about 18 hrs of dry time after the trim and wash before going in the Cannatrol. Net weight wet is 12.8 oz, so with some luck I’ll get 3 oz dry…

Not a huge harvest, but the quality looks awesome, and enuff to keep me occupied…

the GF is already stoked for the Spring 2023 growing season…keeper for sure.

Congratulations on another successful harvest buddy! It would be nice to have help at trimming time, it gets so monotonous. I'm so lazy, I don't trim anything smaller than my thumb. It just gets tossed or it gets put into a baggie for gifting to my son who can trim it his own self lol. Can't wait for the next chapter.
