Medicinal and high in one plant?

So basically as the heading suggests... Is there strains that can be good for pain aswell as getting you high? I've had terrible back pain for at least 14 years now.
A few years ago I was taking prescription painkillers for other pain (nerve damage) these didn't have any affect on my back pain.
I know they weren't for back pain, one was for nerve damage and the other was a generic pain killer.
I've been in constant pain for 14 years. My husband suggests I go to the doctor but I'm just not one for going to the doctor unless I really have too. And I feel as though that will be a lengthy process and probably won't get anything resolved without surgery, so weed seems to be my best option.
So any info would be so much appreciated.

Any strain you want + a Chiropractor.
Herniated disk between my L5 and Sacrum, I smoke a joint before my chiro appointments and then im both high and pain free.

To actually answer your question, you'll probably have to search yourself and find the strains that have both those effects on you. Its rarely the exact same for two people. Although most people say that "gassy" or OG strains tend to be very medicating.

Nothing for nothing but have you tried muscle relaxers? May be better than the opioids or atleast in conjunction help taking less

Just noticed your pretty young still. I wouldn’t risk my back if its that serious. Pain is natures way of telling you something is wrong. Masking it could cause you even more problems in time

The only person I knew personally that took their own life was because of back problems and the addiction that followed. Worked hard as a stone mason everyday of his life wife kids everything but couldn’t bear it eventually. 40’s

Ok, didn't realise it would be like that but makes sense I suppose the same way medication effects people in different ways. Thanks.

You're describing opium.
Definitely didn't mean like I wanted to be off my face high just my usual kinda high from my weed. Just have always heard a plant dies either one or the other, pain or high. So just thought I'd ask real people with actual knowledge instead of a Google search.

Thanks for all your comments.
Back problems are a huge problem on my mother's side of the family where many of them have had surgery. The thoughts of surgery freaks me out.
I'm currently not on any medication other than weed. The medication I was on a few years back was prescribed to me but I weaned myself off that eventually.
I'm definitely not looking for a new addiction because I know how hard even taking prescribed medicine is to get off. (Typically non addictive medication but over time your body needs it, not you, not like youd need another drug that you're addicted to eg, herion, valium) what I mean is you're not sitting dying for your fix of lyrica but your body shows you that your not taking it.
On the note of muscle relaxers, I had been prescribed a couple of them for a particularly intimate appointment I had recently and when I took them I didn't feel pain for a full 2 days. I couldn't believe it. Again they're very addictive and not a route I'm willing to go, even non addictive pills. I think I'll just do the dreaded and make the doctor appointment.
