Medical Marijuana patient who rents a house,, growing

Do you think a medical patient should ask his landlord if he can grow weed on the property? The lease only says "no illegal activity" which technically could be illegal under federal law. Could he evict without warning? I am a loyal tenant who pays on time and takes care of the place for over 5 years. I really am afraid to even ask for fear of being evicted just for asking.

If it were me I would ask. Could be grounds for an eviction. Take it from someone who hadta chop a crop at week six, there's no worst feeling than watching all your hard work go down the drain.
Did you landlord just tell you to take it down? No eviction? My landlords seem kind of relaxed... but ya just never know. Im afraid if I ask, I lose the ability to just grow discreetly and unknowing
Landlords make a ton of money from a loyal tenant.. In this area it seems hard for a landlord to keep a place occupied for too long.. I find it hard to believe they would evict a legal med grower without at least giving them a chance to comply with a warning

I'm with TS on this.
I would contact him. Show him the laws and prove your in compliance with all aspects of growing under said law. Have him over and show him it's not an electrical hazard (be sure it's not) and show the compliance.

He's the landlord. He has a key. While it's law that he has to contact you before entering your rental (our state anyway). Sometimes a "drop by" can be minutes away, or even you get a call from the driveway (neighbor smells it and calls him).

neighbor had a gas leak the gas company needed in my house, what a fucked up mess that was... had an ebb and flow bucket system running, just did a 55 gal nute change, and was 2 to 3 weeks from finishing... live and learn tho, building a new room now, fully 12 x12 fully self contained.

Im kind of worried to just ask though, because my girlfriend doesn't even smoke and even thought she's cool with it, I don't want her and my dogs to possibly be out on the street because we can't afford to really find a comparable place right now. I'm on disability and she's currently in between jobs and gong to school so it's kind of hard. . Maybe I should just quit growing and smoking since I cant afford to buy the smoke :/
This shit really helps with my anxiety and pains though....

Maybe you could find a place outdoors. I'm probably not going to win many Likes for this but having witnessed what a grow can do to a house re humidity I would say fuck no. Here if your house is deemed a grow op it is noted on deed and always with that house. Most people do not understand what throwing a house in to a negative pressure can do and almost every grow does that. Some have been condemned due to mould inside walls and unable to remediate.

This is why I might just get a carbon filter and just not let him know. I don't think he has any need to take a look in my closet or even go in my bedroom for that matter. In the time we've been here, he's never came over unannounced, and the only time he ever did come over was when we called because something needed repaired. That can be remedied by simply making repairs myself, or cleaning up smells and such before he comes over. My grow is only going to be a small CFL grow with about 400-500 worth of CFL lights, I don't think it could do much damage. The place already has mold due to poor insulation and single paned windows, and I think the extra heat an air flow could help keep the humidity down

Probably not re the extra air flow lol. If your exhausting air your creating a negative and will draw in cold air into the walls creating moisture but oh well lol. Not one of my rentals so have at'er lol.

Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission is my train of thought.

My landlord has no idea and I hope to keep it that way. It actually protects him, because if he knew and the house burned down, tech his insurance wouldn't pay out.

i know of a guy that rents out homes . and one home the renters were growing . and the insurance company in mi . not all of them some of them will NOT insure any house if it has a indoor garden . so my owner was forced to evict the renters onto the street he did not even evict them legally . he said let them take him to court he cant afford a burnt down house . there are lot of people that dont care if you grow just ask them before you move in .

The place already has black mold appearing in every corner of the house, we have to clean it off with bleach water every few months. And the landlord was aware of it when we moved in, that's why thy gave us a black mold pamphlet. The only exhausting I am doing is with 2 4" duct fans pumping air out of a 5x2 closet, and the air vents right into the connected bedroom. The only air coming into the closet will be from air that's in the house already. The only way I will actually vent is on hot days, just by opening a window, which people do even if they aren't growing. Don't forget I said this grow is very small closet CFL grow, I wouldnt try a full room grow op in a rental without expecting problems

not worth the risk imo and unless he smokes it himself i wouldnt imagine anyone would not mind his property being used to grow

If its a small grow you shouldn't worry so much. Get a carbon filter ASAP, no show, no tell. You'll be golden. If need be, disguise your grow OP as... idk lol Something?

Like I said, wouldn't get many like's lol. No need to discuss it really, your gonna do it, that's your decision. It also depends on your location whether or not it will create issues. Colder climates will cause more damage and yes if your opening windows that's better. I always found spots outdoors before I owned anything but that's not an option for some I guess.

I understand your concerns and frustrations. I am also renting and to my knowledge my landlord has no clue about my 4x4 tent or few plants I the back yard. I would rather beg for forgiveness than ask permission. There's nothing in my lease agreement against it. What the doctor prescribed for me isn't his business. I use a carbon filter and always make sure I don't have light leaks. Have been in this house for 3 years, even though its still a risk and mite be un moral or disrespectful to most, I am grateful I cannot be prosecuted legally in my state. Maybe evicted under certain circumstances at worst.
