It don't do shit for me. That's how I feel on xanax tho. But my dr.'s an a-hole and only gives me enough to take a couple times a week, so the rest of the week sucks pretty much. Unless I get drunk which I been doing a lot of lately. These damn dr's won't give me anything to help me and it's turning me into an alcoholic:wall: those bastards:cuss:.

That really does suck. If its possible, try switching doctors. I won't try prozac because I have read too many bad things about it. Its great for others, which just shows how diverse we all are.

I don't drink at all. Ity totally screws me up. besides which, its a depressant and being bi-polar, its dangerous.

Seriously blaze these 'effexor' drugs are the best.
Like any other prescribed drugs they take a while to get into your system but make a huge difference.

These meds take the edge off so you aren't so anxious and nervous and with smking some weed now and then....its a perfect combo. you're gonna love it. you'll see.

Seriously though blaze....get off the booze.
I kinda sense that you could be one to get into trouble with drinking. Not meaning to lecture...just concerned.:-|

Yeah you're right, half my family are alcoholics, so I do need to be careful with it. I don't even like drinking to tell you the truth, I just do it cuz it works so well. I get anxiety around pretty much any social situation in which there's ppl I don't know, or a large group of people or w/e. But alcohol and xanax turn me into the complete opposite person; I want to talk to everybody. But your right, I just need to find the right medication to work for me and not drink too much, maybe effexor will work for me too.

I'm the exact same way blaze. I completely panic when I have to deal with people especially large crowds. My family and friends just know that I won't come to those big family gatherings. I just don't go. I hate them. Not my family and friends..but just the anxiety that rushes through my body.

Going into stores is difficult and malls are just a nightmare. The things that most people take for granted but effexor is exactly what its made for. It works really good.

I also don't drink because my mom is an alcoholic.
Its in the genes to start with. Bad news.:-|

I got my card in California pretty easy. My GP has a website where I can get all my stats such as diagnosed conditions and treatments and all my lab work history. That was pretty much all that was needed as well as my California ID. I am currently wating for my appointment in Washington. They do things a little different. They wanted me to fax them all my Dr. notes and such and then they do a little research on your med history then they are supposed to call and schedule my appointment. We will see. From what I hear Cali has the most medical conditions that would qualify you so even if you qualify for your card there you may not elsewhere.

P.S. I was qualified for my card in Cali with the diagnoses of Fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism and Graves' disease to name the most prevelant. I have been diagnosed with Celiac Sprue disease just recently, so we will see if I qualify in Washington state. I also recently learned that only 2 states that offer the medical cannibas cards recognize other states cards, one is Montana, I think the other is Rhode Island or something. It would be interesting to find out for sure.

Hey Amys.
Thanks for your comments. Yes fibromyalgia qualifies in Canada also. Thats a horrible and complicated illness.

Most people with fibromyalgia have allergies to some foods and chemicals.

Celiac disease is a wheat allergy and is often associated with fibromyalgia. They go hand in hand.

I'm so glad you have your mm card. My very best friend that I have known since I was 5 has fibromyalgia and she is like a sister to me.

I help her out a lot since I am a nutritionist.

Good luck with your situation. If you need any recipes and help with the Celiac, I'm the woman to call. Seriously.

I have an underactive thyroid also. Another condition common with fibro.

Thanks Amy
Love your Avatar...please keep in touch

I have noticed a significant decrease in pain associated with the Fibro after cutting out Aspartame. Like that in Equal. This was a big factor for me and I am still cutting foods and certain chems out of my diet.Celiac Sprue is actually caused from an intolerance to Gluten !!! When a Celiac consumes Gluten it triggers an auto-immune response in which your body attacks its own small intestines and causes irreversable damage. Graves' disease is also an auto-immune disorder, which I think is interesting considering my list of ailments. I may take you up on a chat about medical conditions and nutrition. Id be interested in finding out what other Fibro patients and Celiacs have had to cut from thier diet.

Lacy I do hope you get your card. Mental illness is just like any other type of illness. Your minds ill and its a dam shame there is still in this day and age such a stigma attached to having a mental illness. I do understand where your coming from. My 21 years old son has Paranoid Schizophrenia. its been a wild ride with him... He also smokes MJ and says it helps better then any of the anti psycotics they have had him on.
I'm in the usa and the state I live in is supposed to have a MJ med law.. I tried years ago to get one for myself. I have Crohns diseases.. had my first bowel resection when I was 18 and have 3 more since. Many days I could not eat if I didn't smoke. I was literally wasting away.. Skin and bones. Just looking at food makes me vomit many days. I smoke and I can eat.. But do you think I could get a card no way. Turned down..So I haven't tried again.

Oh gardenandcats. That is outrageous that YOU can't get one with crohns disease. Its almost a given here if you have it. I know of at least 4 people who have crohns and got their card without any hassle. You should try again!!!
Thats just crazy.Maybe it was because it was years ago. A lot of things have happened in the last few years and I bet you will get one this time if you try again.
I am determined to get mine.

Yes it is sad that in this day and age mental illness is treated like the plague. I think its because people just don't understand mental illness and what can be done about it. They would just rather sweep it all under the rug.

You know, I bet if they did more studies and put more effort into this aspect of human nature, they might find less crime in the world because I think a lot of people that commit crimes are depressed people who are misdiagnosed. Especially amongst men, because their depression comes out as anger and violence. There would be a lot less men in prison I think.

Not all men but a lot of them and they do not seek medical help because they don't realise that there is anything wrong. Society has done such a great job in shaming men for having such thoughts and heaven forbid if they ever showed their true feelings. You know,...real men don't cry bs.:?

I hope this changes soon.

Good luck in trying for a second time around garden. you gotta do it gurl!!!!!!! I'm countin' on ya.

Yes celiac is gluten intolerance not just wheat.
Its in wheat, barley, oats, rye and other forms that are not even thoguth of: like modified starches.

If you don't know what starch its made of then you don't know how what was modified. Even the glue off stamps and a lot of precription drugs have gluten fillers that are not mentioned.

If you ever want to pm me I can offer a lot of great reipes and books to read on the subject. I have some GREAT recipes and books.

Its very interesting. I go through bouts of epstein barr syndome but have been good lately. I had it for at least 2 years bad but it seems to be fading away.
It is also an immunity disease a bit similar to graves.

My girlfriend has had fibromyalgia for years now and is definitely getting better.

Good luck with your treatment amy.

Still love that avatar. thats too cute.

..That sounds like me now and I thought I was doing well. :?

You got diagnosed and treated with the right meds for you VERY quickly. Thats awesome. It took doctors more than 20 years to find meds that worked for me but at least they did.

I still want me weed though.

I have an appointment tomorrow with my GP and am taking in forms from a reputable "Compassion Club' hoping that he will feel more comfortable signing them.

Maybe yes, maybe no. I really would rather he sign them than go to this specialist who doesn't even know me.:?

I'm gonna get this one way or another. :blsmoke:

I really don't care. But as a patient in California it becomes very easy to spot the real patients from the "300" kids. By 300 I mean all the people that go to the few doctors that will sign a rec. for anyone willing to pay their extremely inflated fee- usually close to 300$.

The language you used in your post sounds more like what I said than a sick person looking for relief. If I am by some amazing miracle, wrong about you I appologize.

Being the one guy in the room who is willing to call a spade a spade isn't always easy. But someone has to do it. I do wish you good luck on your growing regardless of it's legality:joint:. You have to understand that here in California I would say at least 35% of the people here with marijuana recs in their pockets are from the 300 crowd. So some of us tend to get fed up with it. I really wish California would just skip straight to a basic grower's license. No medical involvment- just pay your fee and grow without issue.
I just started reading this thread from the beginning and I need to ask you what you consider an "illness" which would give someone the medical right to smoke marijuana. I really want to know. I have sciatic nerve problems in my lower back, when it flares up it hurts so bad I feel like I cant breathe and I lose strength in my leg and hit the dirt. I was told by my doctor to take pain medicine and anti-inflammatory drugs which I refuse to take. Would my medical problems constitute using marijuana for pain or do I have to be dying? No disrespect to anyone who is dying and using marijuana, but I think this is a double edged sword which could potentially cause serious problems within the community.

Hey godspeed,
Well If I were a doctor I would write OK you for an mm card but I'm not. :-| I would most certainly go to your doctor. Physical pain is definitely a 'good' reason to get one. I would think its the #1 reason why people get them. Thats even considered a class A or form 1 in Canada.
More of a priority than someone like myself, so yes go to your GP.
I think being prepared in advance helps a lot but I don't even have one yet so I have my fingers and toes crossed. :-?

Ok I don't but wish me luck.
